Guild Wars 2

Have you tried buying Karma items and gear as soon as you complete the Hearts?

Also try a diff weapons set you can play with a scepter or Staff as well as sword with a guardian so try swopping with diff types of enemies.

got a great sword from the karma points, then ended up picking up another one with similar stats :-/ with the 2hand weapons i deal more damage BUT when equiping shield and mace for instance i do less damage and still take the same about damage from foes which i find is real confusing ...

Try a warrior, but upping your toughness and vitality helps a lot on a guardian.

Post some pictures of your characters.

the idea was to be tank toon, will try spend the trait points i just got ... will probably try warrior out later but wana get an understanding of the game 1st so i will stick to the guardian and be the mobs' bitch so long :)

pics? i will do so tonight hopefully ...

Toughness will help with any character - especially the squishy ones (Ele, Necro, Mesmer) - I was putting Vitality on my Ele but you still get one-shotted by bosses, as I found out to my dismay in AC the other night :p

Necro would actually not qualify as squishy at later levels, they have the biggest health pool along with the warrior of any profession and while they wear light armour like us Eles, they have death shroud that makes them even more tanky.

I'm actually not specced into toughness at all, for Twilight Arbor last night a ran 20 Fire, 10 Air, 0 Earth, 15 Water and 13 Arcana. That spec did pretty well and most of my downs came from Necro ground AoE that toughness would not have saved me from.

BTW figuring out the trick for the final boss was so great after getting owned over and over again. :D

AC was nightmare for the two of us!

I reset my traits and, am going with 10 in Earth for toughness, I will make up the loss of HP from not spending points on water with some very nice +Vitality and +Healing power.

Yeah ... I'll try and craft some new gear for myself before this weekend so we can take a second run at it. But I think (despite ANet saying a group of anything being able to make it) having a group comprised of 80% Ele probably wasn't the best idea xD

Yep, the biggest problem being that no matter what you do or how you spec, as an Ele you are going to go down very quickly. I'd say at least one Warrior or Guardian is needed for these dungeons if the rest are Ele's.

We did Sorrows Embrace last night and it was a nightmare, one boss in particular had us at our wits end before we eventually found a valid strategy, but it still took over an hour to beat him. We also had tons of trouble, like mob targeting not working, lag and all but one person getting the cut scenes. SE is definitely a masochists dream. We did finish it though and I'm quite proud of that, even if it did take over 2 hours to complete.

so i put some trait points in Valor (Toughness, Critical Damage) and Virtues (Virtue Recharge Rate, Boon Duration) and boy did it make a difference ... can actaully tank abit now in group events and not just get one shotted when a boss does massive AoE attack

Yea and I sat and laughed all night at the groups attempt, ne Isen :P

Shadow we should try AC again this weekend, but def need someone who can take a few hits.

I've got my Guardian up to 17, but it's unlikely I'll have him at 30 by Saturday. Will see how it goes, but I knew I should have mained a guardian, our guild is sorely lacking one.

Yea my necro might make it to 30 by this weekend, got to 20 last night. I wanna take either the necro or the ele in again. :P

I'm a 37ele, so if you need me on Sat, send me a wisp! I tried AC for the first time last night, but no matter what we did, the party couldn't get in together. :(

The whole party system was borked last night, I hope it has been resolved.

I think if it hadn't been for the two lovers (whatever their names are) we would've done okay, with maybe a couple of wipes in between. But those Illusionary Mages spawned way to fast ... faster than I could kill them, and whatever condition removal skills I had slotted just had too much of a CD for me to get rid of their confusion stacks.

That particular encounter was a bit on the brutal side.

On a side note - I doubt I'll have any alts leveled and ready by the weekend, so it's still going to be my Ele trotting in. My warrior and ranger alts are coming along, but I haven't really been focusing on them, next best are my Necro and Mesmer alts, and they aren't anywhere close either.

Best way to deal with the confusion is to have the water trait that removes conditions when attuning to water, Signet of water, (Healing Rain/ Magnetic Surge/ Cleansing Wave) and Cleansing Fire. With those I found you will never have a condition on you for more than 2 seconds, still a Guardian would be great for the group in those situations.
