Is that in total? R2 700 for headphones and a possible amp?
any luck or would you just recommend any of the ones on the front page ?

Nice options there.Okay so with a budget of R2 700, we can look at it a few ways.
1) You buy the Beyerdynamics. They offer the best quality out of everything on the front page, but due to their price, I've left them out as spending that much means things become more personal in terms of what you're looking for.
Going this route would mean the Beyerdynamics would suffer and not perform optimally until you can afford to buy a a proper amp to pair with them. Something like a Schiit Modi and Magni stack (we're looking at a bigger than planned budget here).
2) Go for something like the Sennheiser HD 518 and pair them with a Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D Fatal1ty Professional (yeah this exceeds your budget).
Great headphones paired with a decent sound card that is PCI-E so it's conventional and doesn't require any electrical sockets or extra cables.
3) Go for slightly less expensive headphones like the Sennheiser HD 215 and pair them with the ASUS Xonar D2X.
I like this option as the sound card performs extremely well and allows you to upgrade your headphones in the future, while having a great soundcard to pair them with.
Ultimately, option 3 would be your best deal, but if you are willing to wait and save up some more, option 1 will absolutely blow you away.

hmm i guess it would make sense to save a little and get the first option i mean go big or go home am i right ?
you said the Beyerdynamics on the front page i wasn't able to find them and wasn't sure which ones you are talking about
I left out anything from R2 500+ as when you start spending more than that, the sound you're looking for becomes a lot more personal.
Local stores don't really stock them so you might have to purchase them off Amazon.com, or go to Paul Bothner/Marshall Music and have them special order it for you.
yeah i understand why you left it out but i just wanna know what the name is so i can maybe compromise and get it
Beyerdynamic DT 770(80 ohms, 250 ohms or 600 ohms), Beyerdynamic DT 880 or Beyerdynamic DT 990.
You can also take a look at the Shure SRH840.
The genius looks 1/2 way decent, what did you pay for yours ?
Any suggestions for wireless headset - ps4 gaming / bit of tv late night ?
Hmm would the quality of these be any better than the average earphones that come bundled with most mobiles these days? I've not gotten a headset for my PS4 yet as I've been wanting to get a decent pair, which is costly, so I've just been using my S4 earphones when needed. But if this is even slightly better I might just buy a pair as it's so cheap.I used to have the Pulse headset which worked nice, but also got a bit uncomfy after a while. Then I read somewhere about a guy just using the Sony Vita earphones, plugged directly into the ps4 controller. Got a pair from I think Takealot for R69 and tried it, and must say I was really impressed, especially considering the price. Though it is wired, your controller is wireless, so still works great. In games like TLOU and First Light I'm hearing a lot of more ambient noises which I did not hear on my 5.1 speaker setup. The set also has a in-line mic and works great as well.
Edit : Here you go, and even a bit cheaper than I thought at R65.

i'm not a headset person, wearing glasses and a headset just hurts. (and no, i cant wear contact lenses)
but when i do i love my Sennheiser HD201
I currently have the Sennheiser HD439's to use when on the go from my iPod, iPhone or Laptop. I'm not very happy with the bass though, my CX300's are much nicer in that respect. What would you guys recommend for under R2000 that would pack more of a punch on these devices ?
