Headphones

Stunt and ArchieChoke are exactly right.

The size or amount of speakers mean nothing. It's down to the technicalities where you hear the difference.

Audio isn't for everybody though. Some people think it's ridiculous that you could spend R5k+ on headphones.

Explains why people give me the googlie eyes when I show them my headphones till they hear it and they eyes then sync again.:D

Haha agreed.

I get my love of audio from my father. Man he loves his NAD equipment.

My dad bought a complete NAD system many years ago right after they got married (around 40-ish years ago). It lasted until they moved to the Western Cape 2 years ago, after which they decided it was just too "old" and got rid of it. It was still in decent condition though!

He's rocking some fantastic AR speakers as well. The frequency response is just incredible as there's no separate sub woofer. Tested them using FLAC copies of the Bass Mekaniks CD.

My Dad also got me into the Audiophile habit, those Jamo's I posted are the exact same my Dad has. Boxless speakers, without a doubt the best I've ever heard.

Your problem is 4.

Music is always recorded for 2-channel audio. Also "Huge Speakers" don't define quality. You need monitor quality to be able to appreciate the clarity of lossless. When you hear it, you will understand. Try to stop off at a BOSE shop if you're ever close to a mainstream mall.

Well the 2 big speakers are standalone speakers from over 30 years ago, I am guessing so can't check what they are since they don't show anything on them and I connect them to my old Sony Hifi.

Would have to take a photo so you can see what they are and they made out of wood.

Send us a pic anyway. Lots has changed in the audio industry these last few decades, I'd suggest upgrading at some point because the quality has improved ten fold over these last few years alone.

Wtf dude, please try to contribute in the least :) Why Should he keep the old speakers, what valid reason does he have to keep old technology when he wants to experience new?

Not upgrading them at all they aren't used for anything important in my room, I would rather buy a surround system for my lounge.

Keep them because it is baddass! Because who cares! And because old tech is awesome :)

Not sure if you can still get these but this is still the best headset I have ever owned:

Combined with the Asus Xense sound card it is amazing, everything I listen to has never sounded better! The only downside is the combo cost over 2k back in the day and by the looks of it is no longer available. :(

Which means I'm screwed if I ever need to get new headphones because the PC 360...

Costs more than what the Xense sound card & headset bundle cost back in the day! :wtf:
