Sorry, my post was poorly worded. When I refer to getting the game when it's released, I'm actually suggesting I'll preorder it literally at the last minute.
This has to do with the time value of money, and the utility I could be getting out of it now. If I can pledge that $35 or $30 right before release date, why would I do so now? Effectively, they'll be sitting with my money for several months (if not longer, in fact) earning interest/investment income on it, whilst I'm left out-of-pocket. If I have the cash in my hand now, I can stick it in my investment account (which I do, every month), and then grab it at a later date. I realise the interest income isn't huge, especially on just $35 (or around R400), but every little bit helps
Getting caught up in the pre-order hype of buying a game months/years before it's actually released has burnt me in the past, hence this approach.
*edit*
Also, the longer I delay the preorder, the more info is released on the game. The more info is released on the game, the better I can decide if I actually want to preorder it. Cancelling is such a pain in the ass
