Karma system incoming!

It subtracts, if I remember my experience with a similar system correctly. That little green bar under your name becomes a little red bar

Ok, been playing around with the system for a while and here are the things I learned:
1.) The system is cannot be abused too much. This is due to some limitations:
1.1) You cannot give out karma to one person continuously, ie: You like Person X's post, +1 karma. Then you don't like their post later on in the thread. You try to give them -1 Karma. You can't. You have to give/remove karma to/from other people before being able to give to person X again.
1.2) There is only a certain amount of karma you can give out, + or - in 24Hrs.
1.3) You also cannot give out more then one karma point per post. Then 1.1 comes into play etc.
2.) That they way it is designed makes you only do karma for an exceptional/really good or bad post.
3.) Be just. point 1 ensures that you cannot go overboard, but then because of point 1, why should you be unjust? You're just wasting karma.
4.)Negative karma points require a comment, to make you think a bit about why you are downvoting this person. Of course, you could put in "asdfasdf", but then you probably don't care about these points anyway.
That's it! Now give me some karma!

To be honest this is a great system, it encourages people to post in a helpful way instead of just "ROFL LFMAO +1" Type post but instead to post stuff like "Voicy's epic WoW Starter guide"
It might also reduce flame wars by alot, but then there's also the added downside of people being to scared to voice their opinion on certain topics *cough piracy cough*

There is that chance, but it would require all 300+ active members each day to negatively blast someone then give points elsewhere, then blast again. I think people would stop in the middle of this and just ask themselves why they are being so petty. Or not, with some of the people on here

poor guy, every come he is going to loose like +300 karma and gain like 1.... Tinny is going to have the worst karma on the forum

If you click on the settings link, where it takes you to the page showing all your subscribed threads; right at the bottom it will show you what reputation you've received - it also gives you the total.
I think everyone starts off with 10 points - which is the default setting for User is on a distinguished road. On 0, you would be an unknown quantity.
I'm not sure how points get allocated - I've looked at the settings for a forum I moderate on and I don't see a setting for how many points are given per person giving you reputation - so no clue there. I'm relatively sure it's not 1 point though.

I can also see it, but I see that Prophet really took some of my karma like a real bastard

Yeah sorry, I forgot to mention that. You have to have received or gotten some karma to be able to see your score

There's no cancel button, took me a while (20 seconds) to figure out that you must click out of the box the close the window.
