League of Legends

I have a strong reaction because you are doing nothing short of insulting some of my friends.

Well, in all fairness, you're (as in players in general) not going to get decent at the game playing bots. When I used to play (live) Dota, I played against a couple of guys who "practiced" against bots a lot. Yeah... they were pretty terrible. It was the same thing with guys who played CS. Bots don't prepare you at all for playing against real players beyond giving you some vague idea of what the enemy champions do.

I have no problem with people playing bots if that's what they want to do, but they shouldn't pretend that they're decent at the game. I am in Silver IV in LoL ranked and don't consider myself decent at the game. I'll probably start thinking I'm ok/pretty good when I reach at least Silver I, since that's roughly the top 25% of the players on the server.

Matchmaking is barely balanced.
If you matchmake with a friend then your likely to get people that are lvl 25+ in a group of <10 just because two are grouped.
That's not balance. Matchmaking is only balanced at 30 and ranked.

It doesn't take that long to get to level 30. Roughly 110 wins from what I've read on the forums, but yes, even normal matchmaking can be very harsh to inexperienced players. This just leads me back to scratching my head about people playing a hard game with a pretty big learning curve (although it's not as bad as dota) for "fun".

I agree with both of you guys here, but I mostly agree with Pooky. I understand that people play games for different reasons, but it's a bit perplexing that people take a game that is designed for competitive play and essentially try to remove the competitive aspect of it. Heck, for me the competitive part is the fun part. Why play a difficult game if you want an easy win? If I want to play something easy that doesn't rely on other people I fire up any of my other single player games (like Rayman: Origins or Farcry 3) and play that.

And yes, you do have some valid arguments Glacier. People going AFK can be a problem but everything else can be dealt with by using the mute button, especially with the new ping system. Heck, even though I'm climbing through Silver rank you still get complete retards and jerks. I give them one chance then I tell them "That's not constructive in any way so I'm muting you" and I get to play the game unhindered by their dickish behaviour.

I understand your point.
People that have never played a Moba or even an RTS for that matter have a much harder time grasping this than one would imagine.

It is a PvP based game.
But as far as the single player thing goes, there is nothing in the genre for single players.
Demigod filled that gap but was dragged down by shoddy development and is now pretty dated.

Edit: They aren't playing to get good. They couldn't give a crap about PvP. They just like having unique heroes for a quick and dirty fight. They have no interest in the competitive aspect of the game as they are very casual gamers.

Even I that enjoy playing ranked still enjoy bot games. They are a great way to test a new champ without feeding.
I'll play jungle and make sure I hold the balance in our favor or get my friends fed so they can steamroll.
In the end it's about having fun.

Also judging by your comments I assume you are extremely good at every single game you play so I best not argue with you.

Well I don't see it as insulting at all. I was speaking from my experience, and not going out of my way to insult anyone.

I'm not amazing at the game. I don't recall ever saying I was excellent at it.

Hence bot games ^_^

And ya, bot games don't prepare you for anything.
I made that mistake with the original Dota only to get to a lan and be demolished.
With LoL I didnt even bother. Been playing since closed beta and took my hits matchmaking till I was less crap :D

Tbh I ONLY play bot games to try out different builds/New champions I buy etc. Nothing wrong with playing bot games at all... Different strokes for different folks. As he says they're casual gamers.

i played bot games until i found a hero i was comfortable playing with , then i started playing PvP. Now and then i still play bot games to give other hero's a try , its fun and you don't get stuck with only one hero you know.

You guys do know pros spend half their game time practicing vs bots when they are not scrimming? Bot games is the 1st place you go to to try out new stuff.

I'm getting really pissed with these players, they all call their positions when starting a game and then they flame you for not choosing a support, and then they say they are going to report you because you didn't take a support. I mean really wtf it never used to be like this.

I agree with you! I love this map! Me and my brother used to play a custom 1vs1 on proving grounds before ARAM came out. I prefer ARAM now!

It's so legend, even got my bot playing friend to join and he has been putting up decent scores. Mostly positive KDA's.
So much fun.

I started playing ARAM yesterday, I enjoy it alot. The only thing that bothers me is the heavily unbalanced sides. I played a few games where we had no ranged Champions vs a full team ranged, other than that it's a fun game.

WHAT??? A NEW MAP? tell me moar!!!!!!

Why don't you try it out?

Motherboard still broken?

I love the new map! No more position calling:D
It's All Random, All Mid. It's a remake of the Proving Grounds map (The tutorial is on that map and they used to have it as a custom map to play as well).
Get your pc sorted out and watch some youtube vids or start playing it!
