Losing the will to game! What to do?

More importantly, find other hobbies as well. I've started gymming in the evenings directly after work instead of playing WoW as soon as I get home and it's given me a metric crapton more energy than I had before, not to mention losing 8.5kgs in 2 months.

I also bought myself a road bike, bought a kindle and took up scuba diving. So now my weekends no longer consist of me playing games all day, but rather a case of me trying to find time to play games - rather than play games out of boredom, which brings back the enjoyment.

Give it a try...see what's what. Oh - and stay away from MMO's!
Firstly, congrats on losing 8.5kg's in 2 months :O Don't know how you did that? Please pm me or something, I could use some tips.
Secondly, I completely agree with you, doing something completely different on weekends and even on weekdays makes your game time more special. Or if you're not in the mood for games, it keeps you busy.

go back to basics, play some that you really enjoyed in the past. Set some goals like, unlocking an achievement
or just take a break from gaming try something else and come back later.

I also hit a patch where nothing on my pc kept my interest for very long!
And the PS3 games just frustrated me!
So i ended up watching 5 seasons of South Park :)

And when i finally got the urge to play a game again i got into ICO which was a nice change of pace!
And now im back to addicted status! :)

Try a game you wouldn't normally want to play... either you will enjoy the difference or start missing the type of game you do enjoy :P

The sims is my choice in this regard... I get so frustrated and annoyed that when i go back to genre's I do like I am all happy again.

But also playing games for the sake of playing games is usually a buzzkill. I miss out on many games that look like they could be good just because I know it is not worth playing for the sake of it being available to play.

Duke, another thing that makes gaming worth it for me is my clan. It just wouldn't be the same without those guys. Sometimes that's the only reason I game. Because of their company.

You don't have to be in a pro gaming clan to have fun.

Yeh, keen to get back into one for BF3... it changes battlefield games a lot!

All good suggestions so far and basically what I would have said. I have a pool, a punching bag, some weights and am looking at getting a bike too. Add to that that I have a group of people I enjoy gaming with and gaming will never get stale. One just has to vary things and boredom won't show it's face.

I'm part of an awesome clan already hey, but majority of the time I just join and talk to them I don't really play hey...

But I'm taking a break now, if I feel the urge to game then great but I ain't gonna force it down. Well not until Uncharted 3!

Went through the same thing, grew tired of it.After about a month i bought a game i wouldn't normally give a second glance to and i actually enjoyed it.

Gaming is good again and taking a break every once in a while is not so bad.

L4D2 or some other coop and not being too serious can also fix you up sometimes.

Mostly I guess its just about doing something different.

I grew tired of SP a long time ago! I only play co-op or MP these days, I prefer talking to people while I game :).

Lol Sky when are we having a braai?

See you on Sat...

It's just a phase you're going through, just roll around you will be fine... lol... I'm just kidding :D. We all go through these stages, I mean hell you're not human if you don't take a sabatical every so often. ;)

I've gone through a couple of gaming lulls in the last few years. Something always drew me back. After The Witcher I thought I wouldn't play anything for a long time, then Mass Effect came. I took long breaks in BF2 and BC2, only to go back eventually. The key is to just find something else to do. I have tons of unread books and unwatched series, so there's never a shortage of entertainment.

That is exactly what I am doing :).
At this rate, I dunno if I want to game anymore... And I'm secretly thankful! Odd...

I've never been through a bout of gamers depression as bad as this...

It happens. I just don't have time to game like I used to. And with a baby on the way, I don't I ever will. Lol
