MyGaming suggestion box

I've noticed the last few days that reviews and such are being posted multiple times by different members .... could we not have it that if an article is posted by whoever, that the same one cannot be posted again or is deleted?

Only thing I've got at the moment (not sure if anyone else pointed it out) is there aren't any rules yet. Forum is still new, but I've got a few suggestions.

1. No double posting. I know a few forums where this is a serious, serious offense. I can agree with it, some people take the liberty of getting 50 posts in bumps

2. No leet-speak. I'm taking this from SomethingAwful, one of their rules is no leet-speak, but with them they include "lol". I think that's kind of stupid, some things are okay, like "lol" and some abbreviations, but at the same time when a post is nothing but spewed out internet memes you attract /b/tard.

3. Mephisto made a good one -- use the search option to see if someone else has posted what you're planning on posting, and keep threads on the same thing to a minimum.

Three words.....

MYGAMING CLASSIFIEDS SECTION!!!!!!!! Only PC and Console hardware/software obviously.

Tinman....... make it so. :p

When I registered and I had to agree with the terms, the form field that contains the terms for you to read, was not properly formatted. It didn't re-adjust to my browser's window sizing either.

Luckily, I could still tick Accept = I have read yada yada...

Thought you should know this, it seems uncool for it to happen. Cool.

Could it be looked into why this site seems to very bandwidth heavy at all? I normally use up only about 1.5megs up and 7megs down an hour on 2 forums but now am using about 3megs up and 11 megs down when MyGaming is open. Asseblief :)

I take it thats mainly using the forums?

I think it may have somehting to do with the massive images that are being posted in the forums, as well as some huge sigs that are in use. We are going to have to clamp down soon I think

Ah yes ...... I was actually going to comment about those huge sigs. Some are so big it takes up a quarter page! And now that I know they're bandwidth heavy, grrrr, to death with them :D

(oh and yeah, that's mainly the forum)

Hiya Tin *sincere* (our most humble Master) */sincere*
Just a little comment about #6 in the posting rules as below...

6. Keep single word replies to a minimum. If you agree, then say why you agree rather than simply posting “+1” or “I agree” etc.

This could be further enforced by having a minimum char limit of say 10 or 12 or something. I have seen this implemented on other forums for the exact same thing above.

there is a limit allready in place :/ also i just had a new fantastic rule to add but cant remember it now

Edit: Wait i remember it ....11. ( cause panty kicking has been accepted) No derailing of threads is allowed

Derailing should be covered by OT and / or troll posts?

Thanks Magnarmalok

I added "10. Stay on topic. Do not derail a thread with pointless posts that bear little relevance to the discussion at hand."

I think that covers your point.

@Lildeath, I think the current character limit will do, but if not we will increase it.

schhhhwwwweeeeeet ive been helpful :D
Now Accept my Pending Roflcopter suggestiong ( you can make it just me if you dont want other ppl 2 get epicness :/ )

Sup Tinman,

Not sure if it is how it is meant to be, but can potentially cause confusion...
Found this when using the HTTP link and Advanced options of a post:

No OK?

Isn't there supposed to be an OK or Submit button or something in the window when submitting the http link? Tried to resize to see if I can see the OK, but no can do.

I took a chance and pressed Enter, and it accepted it.

Thanks.
