Offical Far Cry 3 Thread

So far? Yes. The degree to which they put you in Jason's body is amazing. I felt like I was running through the jungle and when assaulting a checkpoint and getting spotted by a dog after stealthily taking out 3 guards and then have to quickly switch tactics before an alarm is triggered. The mad rush to salvage the situations. I also like that the knife mechanics are universal meaning its not only a one shot weapon if you hit the guy perfectly from behind as in many other games, if you come around a corner and run into a guard hitting the melee attack quickly gets you a nice takedown.

Have you tried any of the online modes?

Cool. That 10 minute trailer has me salivating to get started on the game asap. So much depth in gameplay:eek:

I am planning to commit some serious hours to this over the weekend. So by Monday I give a verdict but I would need to go pear shaped badly to ruin it.

One that that peeved me a bit was the camera you use to paint targets being able to do so through thick jungle and even tagging a shark swimming in the deep waters off a beach. My suggestion regulate it yourself. I have decided to only use it for Checkpoints or to scout other guarded areas as it doesn't seem to regards foliage as obstructions.

I am also not sold on this "once you pick up/buy a gun you can get it for free at all safe houses" thing it lacks a certain "This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine" quality. Personally I would have preferred, on higher difficulty anyways or with a hardcore mode, that if you lose a gun you need to rebuy it. But hey at least this time you can equip any combination of weapons not just what the designers decided you can carry together.

So worth the money, might get it today or monday from BTGames if they have it?

You might wanna jump. Nobody in Stellenbosch had stock, so I went to Cape Gate and got it from Incredible Connection. They only had three left in stock.

Still waiting for my copy, but I only finish work at 4 anyway. Looks like the Ubisoft servers are down, I hope activation will still be possible.

I dunno hey, this reeks of potential fail. I remember FC2 was also amazing, for about a day then got old and boring. I fear this might go the same way. Killing goats? Safe houses. Smells like FC2 to me.

Played through the entirety of FC2 so I'll be able to judge whether it make the same missteps. At least there are no more magically re-spawning guard checkpoints. :)

Activation is possible, but you can't play MP or co-op. You have to launch the game in offline mode just to get it playable.

Fuck you, Ubisoft. Their servers are always down or having issues. The also removed Splinter Cell Conviction from my uPlay account for some reason. :/
