PC price shocker

I bought BF3 and MW3. Forza 4 is next on the list but that is that for this year. Really not able to afford anything else. If i look at the shit i have bought recently (Red Orchestra) my money (that i don't have) will stay in the bank.

Prices don't only go up... You have clearly forgotten the times when the exchange was R20/£

Yes they're sticky... It is business.... What i am saying is that companies shouldn't lie to customers about why they are increasing their prices. It just makes them sound like fools.

The companies that don't up their prices over the next few weeks will gt more business... And probably keep it.

Well we'd all like companies to never push up their prices. However, all of the companies make use of a handful of suppliers, and those suppliers cannot afford to keep their prices the same. The middle-man in turn cannot always absorb that increase in costs and HAS TO pass it down to the customer. Crap rolls downhill. It always has, and always will.

Whenever there is a company proclaiming that THEY will absorb the increase in prices and not pass it down to the customer, you have to ask yourself where they are making up that lost money. NO company can survive by making smaller and smaller profit margins. They're not in business for charity.

If prices just went up to cover the change in the Rand that would be fine but often you see the Rand change 15% and prices go up 30%, I remember this was the case a few years back when things were going up and down and console game prices were hitting R900-R1000.

Also Neo, your signature is clearly way beyond those allowed in the site rules.

Oh noes. I'll alert the authorities. I expect a strongly worded letter any day now. It's 70px more in height. I'm sorry if it caused you, or your family any distress. While I'm at it. I'd also like to take this opportunity to apologize for apartheid and any woodland creatures which might have been used for perfume testing by Estee Lauder in the past. Even though I was not born back then, I'm sure that my offensive 70 pixels somehow contributed greatly to those events, which have obviously caused undue distress to people like Monk.

Please. Forgive me.

Um it's 50% greater than those allowed. I was just pointing it out in case you were unaware but thanks for the amusing diatribe. :)

Hmmm... You made a rebuttal that did not refute any of my points. Absorption of cost was not one of my points.

Wholesalers deal in imports... They should be able to handle short term changes in exchange easily with no cost to them.

The rand has been strong for months going below 7 a number of times.... Yet prices were not decreased so that was all profit. If they were good business people they would consider this and make arrangements for possible declines in rand strength.

As managers it is pretty poor effort to just let the exchange fluctuations dictate your business so easily.

this sucketh.

The rand has strengthened significantly in the last day or so.... This will hopefully lead to less of a shock than expected. So don't worry brobeans.

^^ I don't see any biscuits? More empty promises then!

*edit: Sigh - you used the word "brobeans". It's kinda like trying to take jogging advice from a one-legged man. I'm still interested in those biscuits though??

Perhaps you would like to take this handbag staff to PM and stop derailing the thread!

I agree. The original topic about the country's socio-economic situation was much more riveting and I found myself deeply engrossed in the complexities of the comments made regarding why I need to now pay 99 cents after the decimal instead of 95 cents like my grandpa did.

Edit: I would have also liked to use the word "rebuttal" in here somewhere but I was distracted by my extra large signature banner.

Sigh. I feel the intelligence of this thread his diminished substantially.

And if you want to... We can compare qualifications later. I believe even with my use of "brobeans" i would still kick your ass.

Back to relevant stuff... The rand ended off well below 8 earlier.

We do need the rand die strengthen again. Once the nerves settle over the damn debt crisis (or they default), the rand should once again gain ground against the dollar. Their austerity measures are going to be tough on their currency for a while. Then it should be time to upgrade!! :)
