How big is the Torchlight download? I'm getting tired waiting for the content server.
My disk usage for Torchlight is 840Mb. So the download is less than that but probably not by much.

This game is pretty fun for a while, but lacks any class depth like say Diablo 2.
Finally downloaded it, was about 500mb. How long is the game by the way?
and? what's wrong with the 3 arch types and their sub tree choices? i'm curious as to why you are using D2 as a comparison.
clearly torchlight is more of a simple yet enjoyable dungeon crawl...
so you would like to rather be a jack of all trades VS master of few? building my char on just the few that would work the best in what i want to achieve not to have many skills spread out and be weak in them. but yes this seems tad bit simplified- guess it was done so for a reason. hec just look over at dragon age's spell and skills VS i'ts old predecessors like baldurs gate. now that is over simplification in its best. The trees feel very generic and lacking choice.
You largely end up using the same skill over and over and over for all your career. In D2 the skills have synergies which makes a person really think. Also since D2 is pretty damn hard in the last difficulty, you really need to maximize those choices and synergies.
possibility is great. just look at who they managed to easy-fy world of warcraft. once a great game now just a pass time for the casual player. This genre is very simple, and personally I feel making it even more simple / streamlined makes it really really dull (I worry D3 will be like that).
have you tried it on the hardest difficulty with permadeath ? currently just doing the normal run. on rerun ill do both hard and hard + permadeath do see the difference.I love niggling over optimal stats and skill choices for challenges ingame that actually require them. No point being able to hit for 9999999dps if the hardest boss is easily killed with 1000.
can always change with a content update. at least it's not hellgate fail where you are max level 50 char an some items drop that is level 50+.Another thing I read items levels stop at level 50 if I recall, which makes going much higher than that largely feel pointless.
that is what it is and why i said classic dungeon crawl, simple yet fun to play. seriously at 19 usd it is not a kill or a rip off.I think this game is just a test and actually a taste of things to come; which seems very promising if done properly. Also at its price it is great buy, with a nice ARPG-lite play dynamic.

they are just a start off company and some seem to forget that and automatically just expect the impossible. there is no zomg big name behind them like blizzard and no matter if they previously did or didn't do some of the diablos they still need to carve out a start for them in the market and we all know that its not fun and games for a new gaming comp.
in the end i still except great things from runic games to come and will support them in their "indie" startups...
i just tried it on hard with perma death and died at lvl 3. (mage class) definitely not as "easy" as some would believe...
Okay maybe I am just good at games or something.
The Mage class is muuuuch harder than the Destroyer certainly. I have died a few times on him, but that was mainly when I had to teleport from a spot to another full of mobs.
Still the fact that one can start on Hard difficulty at lvl 1; which if done in any other ARPG you would be utter toast, says this game is easy.
Anyways I will say again so people don't jump down my throat for being totally negative:
This game is great on many levels, especially considering its price. Should you expect a fully fledged product with all the trimmings? No, but for what you pay it IS amazing quality.
