Resident Evil 7 VR

Conflicting reports. Some say they have partnered with occulus, some say Q1 2017 and one article said they will only add one to their lineup if they can add something unique.
Not holding my breath.

Theres a rumour that PS VR will work with XBox or something to that effect. Not sure how true that is though.

Well the Upgraded Xone Scorpio would suggest they want to head in that direction. I hear soon you'll be able to play your xbox games on the Oculus but in a theatre mode style. So the game is on a virtual screen rather than VR.

Tons of Resident Evil 7 News: Gameplay, Coins, Nostalgia, Shadows, and More

Both Eurogamer and Spanish magazine Hobby Consolas got to sit down with Capcom and delve into Resident Evil VII: Biohazard‘s first five hours, and published a ton of new information, gameplay, and screen shots to get our blood pumping! To be perfectly honest, this is some of the most… well, informative information we’ve gotten about RE7 in a while. Capcom’s marketing has been very cryptic, focusing on mood and atmosphere rather than actual story and gameplay details. The game is less than two months away now, and we’ve only just recently seen one of the game’s other enemies other than Jack Baker. That’s how close to the chest Capcom’s playing it with this one. In contrast, Resident Evil 6 had already had a dozen or more story trailers by this point before release, and we had seen the grand majority of the game’s basic enemies and had even played the opening 20 minutes of three of the game’s campaigns across two demos.

Just in case anyone reading is hoping to avoid any major, or minor, spoilers, I’ll separate the news into gameplay and story details. There isn’t anything I’d consider to be major spoilers, but there is a small amount of new story information that we hadn’t heard before, so read at your own discretion.

There will be some minor checkpoint saving as well, before and after boss fights. We can also breathe a sigh of relief when we get to a place we can save, for just like in the old days, these are safe rooms, and enemies cannot follow us in.

Not related to VR but the game doesn't support Ultra Wide monitors/resolutions. So playing on a 34" in a tiny box...Honestly it's fucking pathetic for a AAA game not support ultra wide at launch.

Is it just me or does the game's visuals look rather flat or washed out, the textures look really, really crap!

Have you bought the game Joker?

My girlfriend got me the game for my birthday. I'm just refunding it for now, once they add uw support then I'll grab it again.

Yip the textures are incredibly flat and crappy, there is also a weird blur going on that I couldn't seem to turn off...not that any of this bothered me because I wanted to play the game so bad. Main gripe was the lack of support for uw gaming, so for now it's been refunded.

Thats wierd. Most people are raving about the graphics on SAGamer and some reviews I read generally tend to be on the positive side.

Look I'm not trying to knock on the game. I think as a whole, like as an environment, the visuals and environments are beautifully designed. I just think that up close, and this is where you'll be experiencing a lot due it VR's nature, the textures look very flat.

The texture quality is pretty bad up-close. I guess that's just one of the sacrifices that had to be made in order to make it run smoothly in VR? Although I don't understand why they couldn't use higher-res textures until you enable VR-mode. But as stated, the atmosphere and the environments is expertly designed.

Regardless, I'd say I'm about halfway through now. For someone that really isn't a huge fan of first-person titles, I must admit I'm loving it. The first hour was pretty epic and things have been quite tense ever since. I can't say I wouldn't have preferred third-person, or another title in the vein of the RE5/6 (I know they get a bad rep for abandoning horror, but I loved them as games nonetheless), but the first person view definitely helps with getting you scared (turning around when you've heard a noise behind you is pretty nerve-wracking:p). My only regret is that I can't experience it in VR. It must be near unbearably terrifying in that mode. I just couldn't justify buying a headset at this point with the lack of any real quality titles to play besides this (the price-point is just too high to splurge on).

its possible it will work but not as ingame VR but rather it'll be more a cinema style VR where you'll play your Xbox game in 2d on a "virtual screen"
