Skyrim Thread

I rob and steal all lockpicks available, yet I still never have enough. Don't spend any skill points on lockpicking either though, as this is a waste for my big-ass heavy armor wearing thug.

Check with vendors. Most of them have a couple of lockpicks to sell, even if it isn't their usual type of inventory. Blacksmiths and general vendors usually have them, and I have found them from innkeepers and alchemists before.

I always check everyone for them...

I have another problem now... I am level 23 and it's near impossible to win any fight!!! I got beaten up by 3 mudcrabs the other day, where at level 9 I would punch them dead..... WTF????? My wife also plays, level 21 now, and her fights are still easy.

It's almost like the game decided to up the difficulty as a sudden decision, and then it upped it a bit too much..... I loaded about 10 times last night trying to beat up 3 town guards (fucking hate Markarth)!!!

After 91 Epic hours I just finished the Main quest with my Lvl 43 character. I still have half a million misc quests and a half dozen other ones but at least the main quest is done and dusted.

Same here. I thought I'd finish the main story before I got bored of the game. I finished at lvl. 38.

Did anyone else get kidnapped by the dark brotherhood? I just went to sleep and woke up in a shack and I was forced to kill someone

Only anybody who wanted to join the dark brother hood.... its part of their quest line.

I just wanted to finish it before Kingdom's of Amalur, the Darkness 2, Syndicate, Binary Domain, Fallout Vegas Ultimate Edition & Mass Effect 3 hit...

That happens if you do the quest from the boy in Windhelm where you have to kill the old woman that owns the orphanage in Riften. It's the quest that starts the Dark Brotherhood faction quests.

Apparently, you can kill Astrid when in the shack and will then get a quest to destroy the Dark Brotherhood.

I am busy with the last Thieves guild quest, then I will start Dark Brotherhood, then Companions, then Stormcloaks , then perhaps check out the main quest. I have started all of the above, but want to finish them in the order I started before I do the main quest.

The 191mb that just downloaded on my Steam... was that the patch? Seems kinda small

Patch Screwed up my game a bit :(

Every so now and then, my screen will start flashing grey and black, and it will make a sound like when you quickly jump into and out of the water. This lasts up to 10 seconds at a time, where I can see nothing onscreen. This happens in caves, castles, houses, mountains etc. I remember having a similar issue on the vanilla game, but that went away with a patch, and I've been playing since then without issues. Farking irretating. At first I thought it would be my installed mods, but I made a backup of my skyrim directory Last week sometime, with all my mods installed an tweaked to perfection. Loaded this up, and I no issues.

sigh.

I noticed the pop "Skyrim has finished updating" last night. I have neglected my dragonborn for too long. This weekend I'll be venturing back into the wilderness :)

Ok, so I've eventually and very slowly, started playing Skyrim.

Just a quick question for those playing it on PC... Fallout (and I think Oblivion) had a feature when you're in 3rd person view, that if you hold down the middle mouse, you can basically look around without your character changing his walking direction.
Any idea if that feature is still possible and if it is, how can I do that (since middle mouse doesn't seem to work)?

If I remember correctly its the button F

Thanks... Button F only switches between 1st and 3rd person, but doesn't allow my to look around.

Walking around in Bethesda games is quite time-consuming... especially if you're carrying too much weight... that's why I like to press the automove button and then just look around while my dummy is walking in a straight line.

When you are in third person view, you can look at your character by moving the mouse, but only if you are standing still. If you are moving, then moving the mouse changes the direction you are moving in.

I haven't found anything that does what you are looking for.
