How fast do you download let's say 1 gb with that line speed? I'm quite curious.

I download 15GB in about 12-minutes. I download a gig in about a minute? I like to tease that I download stuff faster than they install
A 200Mbps line under "perfect" conditions can reach 25MB/s. My highest is 22MB/s (around 170Mbps). The unfortunate reality is that not all sites allow you to download at anywhere near 22MB/s. I can't think of a good example, but most sites only let you grab at about 5MB/s.
But with digital distribution platforms like Steam, GOG, Desura, Origin, etc and MMOs I download at a pretty stable 18MB/s.
Torrents, as per usual, depend heavily on seeders. Since services aren't shaped here I can easily get my line-speed on a good torrent.
Disclaimer, for my own mental health: I don't torrent very much at all, just the odd old game that I can't get on GOG and since I get most of the series I watch on Netflix for 80 SEK per month, no need for that either
My ISP is one of the fastest in Sweden, but at the cost of upload speed. I have a 200/10 package. There are other ISPs that offer 100/100 packages but I wanted more download speed since I don't upload much stuff and 10Mbps is more than enough for an ol' ex-Telkomite like me![]()
Wow just... Wow15 GB in 12 minutes? I just jizzed in my pants
that would take more than a day here... Lucky bastard
Inorite.
A lot of people here are quite content with 20/40Mbps lines but I said, "HAH! No. I'm South African. Long have I languished under the Telkomonopoly; long have I spent far more than what I do here and received far less. I'ma getting world-class internet!" So I did and quite bloody proud of it too.
It's great to have so much bandwidth free to do with whatever you like, so that at no point are multiple services "fighting" for bandwidth.
And, of course, it's great to be able to keep my hard drives clean and only download games when I feel like playing them.
I don't think it's possible to experience this much freedom and let go of it. The idea of a 4Mbps line now makes me feel View attachment 4684. I lose far more than that between my theoretical bandwidth and actual bandwidth.
I'd give my left ball ( or right which ever telkom prefers) to have ATLEAST a stable 10 mbp's line. But alas telkom will always be telkom.
If I may ask how much bandwith DO you actually use per month on average?
If I can ask what do you pay a month for the services?
I pay 500 SEK per month. That's about R700.
well it only like R200 more that i pay for 2mbps uncapped
I download 15GB in about 12-minutes.
Used to have an uncapped Screamer 512kbps line...... *shudders*
