Inspired by a certain other off-topic thread that gained a lot of attention recently, I figured MyGaming could do with a spot for all LGBTQI + other gamers to sort of congregate and perhaps discuss stuff that impacts us - gaming or otherwise.
While I use the term "gaymer" a bit tongue-in-cheek - because let's face it, gamers are gamers, and the term doesn't quite encapsulate everyone - but sometimes it's good to know there's a place you can go to talk about stuff that, sometimes, straight people just don't get.
Like how unfair it is you can't romance Garrus with MaleShep in vanilla Mass Effect *cries into hand-painted Team Vakarian banner*
Aside from that, though, I feel MyGaming should be, and is, a place that you can be free to be you - and when it comes to sexuality or sexual orientation, sometimes that can be daunting, and sometimes you can feel very alone in the world.
So think of this as a thread to discuss all things LGBTQI related - even if it's just to ask what LGBTQI stands for.
It can be a place to come out, seek advice, share experiences, or connect with other gaymers, or whatever you feel is relevant.
Everyone is welcome.
Note: this is a hate-free zone, and forumites who insist on coming in here to stir nonsense (gay, straight, or otherwise) and spew hate will be dealt with accordingly.

I'm pretty accepting of people regardless of their sexual orientation.
I'm a straight male gamer, without a girlfriend - which is why I game -- hardcore!![]()
Haha I would hope you'd still game even if you had a girlfriend xD
A bit less than usual I would think -- given that I'd have to spend time with her.
Lol - I make it sound like a burden.
It'd be something like: "Darling, I'm playing online, there's no pause and the game is only half way... Can't we do that later?"
She'd have to be pretty accepting![]()
I wouldn't say it offends me, but it causes a momentary sickness to my stomach when I hear someone use the word in that context. It's probably because I had an extremely Christian upbringing where I was constantly taught that being gay is wrong, and I knew people who used the term in a derogatory manor with the intent of insinuating homosexuality. So I can't help but automatically and momentarily associate the word with a direct mockery of homosexuality when it's being used as an insult.
I also think it's pretty unnecessary considering the wide range of similar insults that could be used instead, without the potential to cause confusion and hurt as a result of it.
Are any of you overly-defensive queers i.e. those who feel insulted when people misuse the word gay in statements like "Fake and gay"?
I read the french foreign legion has a no gay policy? Is that true? I heard they beat the crap out of you if they discover you gay. I don't know how old the material is from what I read but has it changed or was it never true? Just curious.
Yes! I just started watching Looking this past weekend. I'm finding it's a more believable version of Queer as Folk so far, with some welcome odd humour. Pretty much Girls but with gay guys. I'll keep watching![]()
