The Golf Shot Thread

Well bring your own clubs if you are left handed because I think they only have one set for left handers.

Majority of the places clubs they have for rent are from pick ups they find lying around the course, so technically their would be a surplus of RH clubs only :D

I live in Johannesburg , Parkmore. So a tad far from you :D

Ah ok bud no worries, i would however highly recommend avoiding cash crusaders / converters etc if you can ( Biggest bunch of ignorant sharks ever ).

Rather check if any of the guys on the forums here have clubs available or check Gumtree etc. Buying 2nd hand clubs when you havent done some shopping around can bite you in the ass. So check online before you pay the mula :D

I might have a spare set in the Free State, I will check this weekend since I have to go through to play a league match.

Good idea! Currently some of the clubs I am using are ummm rusted lol :o

Hahaha probably. I want to buy a set of clubs from cash crusaders .
The Pro Shop usuall y has a big-ish Sale in August and you can find some awesome deals on clubs in store.

Before they renevated the store in Woodmead the had this big ass storage area and in August they have the big annual Sale. i was lucky enough to buy myself a driver that was still brand new for R50(just had to have the grip fixed) also bought an Adams Idea 5iron hybrid club for R60 and a Wilson 5wood for R40.

Also check out gumtree, lots of people are swept up in the idea of golf and go out to buy brand new clubs before they have even tried playing golf and you can find some steals there. i bought a full set of irons which included a cleveland golf bag for R600. only 2 of the irons were used.

Never rolled a cart (yet) but come close. Drove down an embankment with long wet grass. Lost traction when I turned the wheel. It did a couple of 360° turns. Spin me out. Let my master in the passenger seat to grab the wheel and eventually bring it under control. (Going down the first at Victoria CC.) :D

Played dodgems too. Crashes have always been near misses. Ah the good old days... :D

Thanks Wenzdayz. Insanity go a good offer from the pro shop(I think it was the pro shop).

I almost tipped the golf cart with my dad in it :D I was 16...

Yeah pro shop often have amazing specials sign up to their newsletter

Luckily a new Golfers Club open up in Menlyn in Pretoria, and had a huge sale about 2 months ago. Got a couple of nice savings from there. I usually go to The Pro Shop though. What do you guys think, is there a big difference between The Pro Shop and The Golfers Club? Have you had any good or bad service from either one?

Personally I've had great service from the Golfers Club. They have been the only shop that actually had shoes that fit me (I wear a size 15 shoe). The Pro Shop, on the other hand, never even bothered to order or try and find a pair for me.

I just find the selection generally better at the pro shop but nevermind that 15 shoe

Indeed. I was cursed (or blessed if you believe the rumours...;) ) with big ass feet. Have been playing golf with normal tekkies for about 2 years now. The first round with proper golfing shoes almost changed my life!!

I've never went to a Golfers club and found the range of products lacking in any way either. I just like the service I've received from them a lot more. They set me up with longer clubs at a discounted rate, helped with me new shaft on my driver, helped pick the right ball and blade angle I need to play with, all with friendly service. The Pro Shop looked at me and thought "GO AWAY POOR PERSON"

This quote from a newsletter from Dale Hayes:

Many people have criticized Muirfield last week’s Open venue. After visiting Leopard Creek this week the contrast of these 2 great courses was amazing. L/Creek immaculate playing surfaces all bright green and flawless Muirfield brown, bumpy rough looking and natural. Which is better. Certainly L/Creek is easier on the eye but we should not write off a golf course simply because it's brown, in fact we had better get used to it with water availability been reduced in so many areas of the World more and more courses will be brown in future. So Brown is Beautiful and another plus is the ball goes further. Dale

What do you think. Personally I thought the course was a great rest of the pros and would love to have played a course like that.

Completely agree! Muirfield had a certain element that makes it so unique. And who says a golf course should be this picturesque landscaped garden? Any links course has that certain wary look to it, and I love it!
