The Hitman Thread

Yes they can wake up, But i think its mainly from an unauthorized kill point of view, If you snap their neck you kill them and get penalized when going for top scores etc for every unauthorized kill...

So buy that, do you get a rating/ranking board after mission completion?

Ya there is a whole global leader board setup... The better you do the mission the higher you get ranked, but i think there is a cap, at the moment i think players can get to 210 000 points (number may be very wrong) and i assume you get there by completing the Paris mission perfectly. By perfectly i mean, no disguises, only kill the targets, hide the bodies, do not get spotted, all with in the set time for top achievement...

Watched a video on Reddit of a guy doing it in 6 minutes lol

Ok, I'm not too worried about where I rank in the world. Does it show a breakdown of what you did right/wrong and where you score/loose? Want to know for my own purposes to know where or what I'm doing right or wrong.

Kinda like a MGS mission breakdown (if you played that).

It does give you a full break down after the mission, I never knew you lost points for unnecessary kills so the first time i finished Paris i had like 12 unauthorized kills that dropped my score like a stone lol...

But the scores dont really mean anything to be honest... Its cool to see, but like you said, the global leader board thing isnt for everyone...

But you must just get the game now and stop asking so many questions :p

Sorry, tight budget constraints require questions to validate a purchase. Will probably get it on Steam if anything, got some funds in wallet so only pay R100.

Also, can you use anyone's clothes in order to disguise or only service personnel?

It depends... I would say only really "service personnel" or people of interest in the mission... If you take out a random NPC then you wont be able to swap cloths with them, but there would be no point in doing so even if you could... There is a guy in the first part of the game that is meeting with your target, you can take his cloths and then meet as if you were the guy...

Do subdued people end up waking up? I know people can wake them up if found. Then what's the difference between subdueing them and snapping their neck?

I know Tom said they can wake up, but I have never seen this, apart from them being woken up by someone finding the passed out person. I knocked a guy out at the start of the Paris mission last night and after spending about 30 minutes in the mission he was still exactly where I left him.

I remember in the older Hitman games they definitely woke up if you didn't kill them. Was pretty hilarious if you knocked someone out and took their clothes and then a few minutes later you would see a dude in his underwear running around looking for you. :p

Wow.... Steam is riddled with negative reviews! :wtf:
Yeah it is, but as JOKER suggested a few days ago, many of those are not really valid reviews of the game, but more of the issues some have been having with low spec systems, optimisation and not being happy with the episodic nature of this release.
 • ♥♥♥♥ crashing servers, always online drm
 • Seriously? You expect me to play one mission over and over again? In various ways? Till you release the next stage?
 • Others have said it already, so I won't get too into it, but there is literally one mission. This isn't even close to a game, it's barely enough for a demo
 • The always online feature is just not welcome in the gaming community, i can't think of a single game where people were actaully happy about this feature. The game's fps varies so much and even on a mid-range GPU i get less than 30fps in some areas.
Certainly some of the criticisms are valid from a technical point of view, but to neg review the game because you don't like having to wait for the next mission pack?

The game itself is plenty good, even if there are technical flaws for some. PCG gave it just 75%, but the reviewer stills says "I've spent nearly 15 hours in Hitman, much of it in Paris, and I'm still finding new ways to dispatch my targets." He concludes with "Hitman is an excellent progression of the series, and full of smart ideas. It's a great sandbox, and I've already wrung plenty out of it. But it's all built within a framework that feels unrefined and full of compromises. It's a great game, but a poor user experience. Hopefully, at the end of Hitman's release schedule, when we put a final score on the finished game, IO will have listened to feedback, and bolstered and tweaked where needed." Probably one of the fairest, most reasoned statements I've read about the game.

Personally, I reckon the R130 for the Intro Pack is a solid buy, and should give you more than enough to decide if you want to continue picking up the rest of the episodes as they release, or wait until the complete game is available on sale next year.

GregRedd I do agree, the into pack will definitely give a player an idea if the game is for them or not... I enjoyed the Beta so much that i went for the full experience... I cant understand how retarded people are complaining about there only being one mission. Its not like it was a secret. Its not like they tricked anyone into handing over their money and then announced the episodic release...

Considering I've just come across a video showing that "we've found 32 ways to finish it" that we have had so far.

PS: mind spoilers! I haven't seen the video myself.

Managed to sell enough crap and had a nice amount in my Steam wallet to fund this and a small payment made. I caved, I hope it's worth it.

Well you're now officially obligated to provide us with feedback on it, hehe :)

fairly confident you'll enjoy it.

I just saw now: New Escalation Contracts Added
We have published two additional Escalation Contracts on our servers and each one comes with its own challenges. These are sure to challenge your knowledge of Paris and will quite possibly encourage you to explore areas you’ve not been before.
To find them in-game, navigate to the 'Contracts' Menu and select 'Escalation'.

More about Escalation Contracts:
Escalation Contracts are something completely new for HITMAN and were created as a way to regularly provide a fresh challenge to players. You'll need to master the location as well as the gameplay mechanics to complete a hit that will escalate in difficulty by adding new elements.

Each Escalation Contract has a strong focus on having fun with the game mechanics and mixing them up – pretty much anything goes in this mode. It’s more about being playful than realistic. For example, we can add additional ‘security’ measures to existing locations, such as laser trip-wire explosives and additional security cameras. There are five stages and you're free to replay them as you wish to climb the leaderboards and you’ll need to be on top form; the save-game functions are disabled.

Escalation Contracts are created by IOI and are part of the ‘live component’ of the game, which will be updated weekly between the release of each episode.

Ye i played last night, they bloody hard :wtf:

Just curious, with Paris being the "new" level. How long did it take you guys to get a successful mission on your first time playing it?
Just wondering how long it took you to familiarise yourself with the environment.

Well the Paris mission is actually (in my opinion) a good introduction to the series, because it explains everything really well, and the disguises are relevant, but also a suit is acceptable attire for the mission, so you can make your way around pretty freely... Not sure if i did it first time, but it maybe took me 3 tries before i completed Paris... But also after the tutorial you will be very familiar with the game, the level obviously takes a bit of getting used to but once you understand the game and how you need to approach things its all pretty straight forward...
