Another fun, tabletop game is Cranium. That's more like a party game, with 4 colors each representing a category:

Creative Cat: Pictionary, blindfolded pictionary and clay sculpting
Data Head: True or False, multiple choice, or a question
Word Worm: Spelling, reverse spelling and anagrams
Star Performer: Charades, humming a song, and acting

You roll a dice, do one of the above (based on the card you draw of the above color) and move on if you are right. It is so much fun!

I really enjoy Cranium. It's a family fun kind of game. I recommend it too.
 
Sure, I'm specifically saying RISK is not a great choice to get newbies into board gaming these days when there are better options like Small World that share mechanics with RISK.

I want to get Eldritch horror expansion Mountains of Madness. I sometimes play Magic and Yugioh. Also got Marvel Dice Masters :)
 
If you play Eldritch Horror then I highly recommend the Forsaken Lore expansion if you haven't already picked it up. It pretty much doubles the card count for the game and just fills it out without adding too many extra rules/card types.

I still have all of my magic cards! But the scene seems pretty dead though, or just me?

Just you....

There are competitions going on all the time, Friday Night Magic every week, and a shit load of places that host these events. I have a few thousand rands worth of cards lying around too....

Where do you live?

The Battle Bunkers in Cape Town have FNM every Friday, and then competitions just about every weekend. There are a few places in Cape Town:
Battle Bunker Tygervalley
Battle Bunker Cavendish
Battle Bunker Somerset West
Luckshack Milnerton
Outer Limits Cape Town

If you want JHB info, I know about a few but can get you more info:

Damn, I am in the Pretoria Area! There used to be tournaments in Top CD at Menlyn.

But don't know of any other.

Whereabouts in Pretoria? Outer Limits on Lynnwood Road (next to Java, across from the Tuks men's res) has Magic tournaments every Saturday and board games night on Wednesdays from 6:30. I'm not sure what time the Magic tourneys start, but just pop in and ask them.

What's the condition of the games? Can you send photos?

Specifically Eldritch Horror and Descent...
 
Don't have them with me at work, but will upload when I get home. To answer your question in the meantime, Eldritch Horror was only played twice, and Descent: 2nd Edition was only used for 1 campaign.

Will upload later anyway though. :)
