The MyGaming board games thread

I haven't played DnD is such a long time that I'll probably suck at it. We used to have DnD weekends when I was still in uni. I miss those days.

You can only suck at DnD by not playing it. It's the best tabletop game in my opinion and now there is a 5th Edition! I'm so getting it.

It's ALIIIIVE! Haha, so it's really interesting to see people talking about some unknown games, even when I've been exposed to dozens and dozens of games in the last few months - it really goes to show there are A TON of games in existence.

Is there anyone here looking for a play group in the Cape Town area?

I would love to get back into Warhammer fantasy table top gaming. I will try again one day.

I am no hard core gamer, but I love me some tabletop action.

A PSA for all the board-game fans: Takealot (the best online store no matter what Kalahari would like you to believe) has got stacks of board games selling at the CHEAPEST price available in South Africa. Last time I checked, Munchkin deluxe was going for R370 odd. I bought it for R100 more than that from the second cheapest place :(

If you plan on buying board games, give them a try. Their service is good and their prices are better. They often have sales on their games as well. Lastly, the more we buy from them, they'll see there's a demand for board games and the better their selection will be.

They already have an excellent range:

Is this new from Takealot, because I've looked previously and they never had a boardgame range like this? It's awesome, and thanks to their Adopt a Trolley campaign I'm saving R50 on Small World Underworld. Thanks for sharing

One of the things I look forward to the most at Rage are the board games, I spend most of my time trying them all out ;-)

I'm glad you could find something you want :)

It is relatively new. They started with Settlers of Catan about 3 months ago and have gradually increased their range. Now they are reselling for Skycastle in Kaapschtat. I have been buying a lot from them lately :P

Just a note - If takealot doesnt have it, request it from them - they have now twice found textbooks for me that they didnt have on their site. They are awesome that way.

SEE! They are awesome. I've had four experiences with Kalahari, one of them was good. I've had 12 experiences with Takealot, one of them was bad (and it was Mr Delivery's fault).

My only bad experience with them was due to an order mix up that they fixed immediately and they gave me free delivery (which mr deliver screwed up since they cant find my office) but for the most part I just go pick up whatever I ordered from them since their cape town branch is 20mins from my office :D Kalahari is ok when I needed textbooks but suddenly takealot is at least R100 - R200 cheaper for most of my books (only bought one from kalahari and it wasnt directly from them it was from their market place :P) I am a takealot addict - btw all orders at the moment from takealot is free if you use the mobile app - which they have improved a lot!

I got Race for the Galaxy, Power Grid, both Civilization the Board Game expansions and Alhambra from Takealot in one week - their prices and free delivery were definitely huge motivators.

Hooray for the Necro!

I'd like to include Tabletop RPGs in this thread too (that's why I wanted to start a new thread): games like DnD, Numenera, Pathfinder, World of Darkness games etc.

I love Cards Against humanity it's fantastic, but not for the easily offended. In fact, it's not for anyone that will be offended by anything :D

I'm currently playing a lot of King of Tokyo. It's amazingly easy to learn and appeals to just about everyone.

You sir, know what's up. That game is the bane of many a man's existence whenever our boardgames club meets :D. Meka Dragon for life yo!

HAHA! Nice :D I am stuck with the King every time we play. Each one in our group has unofficially adopted a monster that we use each time. Naturally, the Kraken was my first choice, but my brother beat me to it :P I was stuck with the cyborg gorilla.

looks interesting...

You can play it mindlessly or you can be strategic... It's loads of fun :D

With my love for dragons and mechs, my choice was made for me . I have a friend who exclusively plays with Cyber Bunny as well.

Cyber Bunny for the ULTIMATE WIN!!!

You see a bunny is more a psychological warfare kind of character. Once you are in Tokyo, people tend to look and think "actually no, I'm not gonna keep these 4 attack die. I'm going to reroll for points of hearts", and this is because, who want to harm a bunny, that's just cruel.

Pfft. What kind of people do you play with :p? Only time I will do such a thing is when a reroll might secure me a victory points victory (75% of my wins are unintentionally through victory points). If I get the chance to demolish the opposition, there will be blood in Tokyo :D
