The official Witcher 3 thread

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt gets a new contract and a new look for Yennefer in a duo of free DLC this week, CD Projekct Red announced via Facebook last night.

The team didn't release a lot of information, including exactly when the free downloadable content will hit the game, but this is what they had to say on the official Facebook page about the two freebies:

CONTRACT: MISSING MINERS — Miners from a small Skellige village are disappearing. Investigate and find out what's happening!

ALTERNATIVE LOOK FOR YENNEFER — Check out this entirely new look for the mighty sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg!

Mmmm so it seems the game does not like Hex Core cpu's, after rebuilding my pc last night I have noticed strange stuttering and looks to be cpu related  This game..I love it so much but man do I fucking hate it!!

Weird. Have you tried changing the thread priority for the game? Maybe that helps that it doesn't try to spread the workload over 6 CPU's. That is if it will allow you to alt tab :p

Already figured it out, the game doesn't like overclocks, I drop it down from 4.5Ghz to 4Ghz and now it runs fine.
Only game that does this by the way, overclock is completely stable and every other game is perfectly fine with it.

Anyone else here play the game (or the previous 2) in Polish? While I think the English voice actors do a great job (mostly), the Polish version is so awesome to listen to even though I don't understand a word of it.

If someone can figure out a way to bypass the recap screen on a save load please tell me. I won't be playing anymore until I get a workaround.

What are you doing that you're seeing the loading screen this much?

Near death. Poor decisions. How I play many RPGs; there will be a lot of loading - a lot.

Maybe I will just turn my speakers off during that 30 second loading and recap period and just stare at the ceiling until it's over.

I will once again lower some settings to see if it changes anything. Seriously, seeing it on startup makes sense. Seeing it ever time I want to do a "quick load" does not. I'm kind of struggling my ass off trying to defeat the Skrieker, that's why I'm forced to load so damn often.

I'm not really good at anything, am I?

Just a report-back on the issues that I had with Hairworks, a restart of the game seems to have fixed it. It must have been because I had just changed the texture settings back to Ultra after the patch. It's all good now. The game is looking amazing. I'm loving this game.

Maybe change your game difficulty to a lower setting just for that fight?

What difficulty are you playing on? I have a fool proof (blood and broken bones difficulty) strat to beat it if you keep struggling.

Sword and Story, I think it's called.
This should be no more difficult than that griffin I defeated.
This is only the beginning, it canNOT be this difficult for me! :(

It is more difficult than the Griffon fight. I died at least 4 times before I figured out the best tactic.

I'd like to try a few more times before asking about this tactic. Switch up the tactics I'm using.
I came close to defeating it but this was just due to the fact that I was hacking and slashing away furiously until about half of its health was gone, died shortly afterwards.

Hmm, do you think I should take off the overclock on my CPU then dude?

What exactly is the problem- does the game perform kak with an overclock?

Seems to be unstable with overclocks, it locks up or stutters usually. Strangely my overclock is not causing me any issues (might be that I don't up my voltage), I don't know why I'm having practically no problems...

And excerpt from what was quite a nice little read:
Yesterday, our guest editor Phil Owen wrote that the longer the game goes, the faster he moves through it. I feel fortunate to have already finished once; I no longer feel any anxiety about reaching the end, and can simply relax and do every sidequest, collect every piece of armor, and explore every question-mark on the map. Only now, after a combined hundred and twenty hours of play, do I have an appropriate grasp of this game’s scope, and only now am I able to relax into a mindset that lets me fully enjoy it.

Sixty hours in, I’m sitting on 13 sidequests, nine witcher contracts, and five more treasure hunts. That’s only counting the quests I’ve found so far, and that isn’t counting the more formulaic boxing, card-playing, and horse-racing missions that accompany each region. I already know how much of the story I have left, and I’d say I’m about halfway through. Meanwhile, my “completed quests” section lists 117 finished quests, hunts, and contracts. One hundred and seventeen!
