hehe, happens everywhere.

VW fans say that for Opel and Ford fans
Ford and opel fans say that for VW fans
etc etc.


Some ppl have bad luck with cars, others don't.

I was part of the pug club way back then. 2 of my best friends had 206GTi 180's and those cars were Bulletproof. The 1400s and 1600's are pieces of scrap though.

even the big family ones. I am not a pug fun I just Love the GTi 180
 
But replacing the brake discs one year and 15 000km later? The problem is, VW charge too much. It's going to be another R2 500 just for that (parts and labour). That they only last a year seems fairly ridiculous to me. I don't drive it very hectically either, so I cannot understand why. The only conclusion I can come to is that either the parts weren't of the normal standard, or they didn't really replace them the last time.

well i guess i have seen my fair share of dud Peugeots however I must say those cars are actually pretty trustworthy, If I had the cash I would have gone for the 207 3 door... it not only handles well but its safety features are marvelous... just my opinion :p

WElcome to the world of many making schemes.

Samething happend to my GF, exact same thing also regarding brakes.

They said they replaced it ( out of motorplan period ) so I had to fork out R3000. She didnt want me to do it myself as she wanted the booklet stamped :|

anyhoo, they even gave her the old disks and pads back, but a week later her brakes started screaming. I took them off to find it was never replaced at all, they charged us and gave her some old stupid workshop stuff as "proof" of replacement. Me and a couple of mates rocked up at the garage, some words were exchanged and she had new brakes within 20 minutes :)

Well yeh as you say either the parts weren't of normal standard or didnt replace them properly... they have been known to do something like that... but as i say check ur maintenance plan... because they could also be ripping you off... check another VW garage and see what they say on it.... but if you hear scraping, squeeking etc.... then ur brakes will definitely have to be replaced and make sure the disks also get skimmed properly because if they aren't then that can also cause ur brakes to wear out quicker...

Sooo... Can I contract your services? :D

I got the book stamped for this service. I'm not giving the car back to them to replace it this time, though, unless it's free. I'd rather get the parts myself and get a trusted mechanic to do it. It'll probably cost me about half the price as well.
The thing is, the mechanic at VW that did my service this time told me it's a one in a million, and he's never seen this before either. He's the one who also told me to fight VW on this, that if I made a bit of noise, they'd give in.
