Thread of PC Woes, Troubles, Problems, and Issues

The worst i ever had was I bought a Gigabyte Mobo and it had faulty CPU pins...and they wouldn't give me my refund :(.
Looked it up and apparently gigabyte has a big problem with faulty Mobo's...Never buy one

Hi guys. I was gonna post a new thread but thank god I found this thread! Should be stickied btw but I digress.
I need to diagnose what's wrong with my pc.
So far it can either be the mobo and/ cpu that's kaput.
See, the thing is - I'll start up my pc but the mobo will make NO beeping sound whatsoever. Even when I remove the RAM modules. Everything else runs just fine (i.e the HDD spins, HSF spins etc).
So I need a diagnosis from you guys. Is it my mobo or my cpu??
Thanks!

Have you tested the setup outside your case?(wood Table) what does it do

My PC woe is that its old and sucks and everything needs to be replaced. Things are all dying slowly but surely. Fans are giving up.

Lol this is the only reason that I've considered Console as a better( more affordable) gaming option. Else, you know what must be done.

A monetary sacrifice must be made to the PC Hardware Gods and they shall bestow upon you new shiny parts to make your PC pimp once more

Fans can spring to life with a bit of lubrication :)
A dabble of sewing machine to the bearing part and the fan will whirl like the day it was unboxed (unless it's a DOA fan).

My monitor's native resolution is 1360x768, but in Windows settings and my Nvidia settings [New Nvidia drivers installed yesterday] is displayed as 1024x768 -- as my native resolution -- it also shows all resolutions, even those unsupported resolutions. And loading some games causes a game to go out of its [the monitor's] current resolution and into something it doesn't support whereby rendering my screen black, and the screen's settings indicate to me it is out of its range. Alt+F4 doesn't work, nor can I access Task Manager while this is happening.

How can I fix this. It used to show differently. Sometimes it shows 1360x768 as native [as it should be], but since all updates and required installs - this is what it shows.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Try roll back to the previous version of the working drivers.
It may be that there are traces of the old drivers still remaining while the new one is installed. Or corrupt install(?)

If rolling back doesn't work, do a complete sweep of the driver and install the latest one.
Don't use the nvidia "experience" auto update.
Manually go to the driver website and get the version that suits your OS+hardware.

and stay away from BETA drivers

Can a faulty or broken motherboard cause a monitor to get no signal? After successfully installing Windows, I went ahead and connected my GPU. Windows detected the GPU and requested a restart. It restated but the monitor now doesn't get signal. Any help/advice?

Edit: tried removing and cleaning ram - no difference.

Does your mobo have a onboard gpu if so unplug your gpu and try use that to eliminate any suspicion around the monitor

Are you using HDMI cable to connect the monitor?
If so, simply unplug and replug the HDMI cable while the monitor and graphics card are switched on.

If that doesn't work, try InSanity's method

It worked when you installed windows.

Perhaps it's a software error, try booting into safe mode, if the monitor works then it's a software problem. Did you install your display drivers before you reset the PC?

I removed the power cable and took out the battery before I went to sleep. Put it back in this morning -- it booted up normally. The thing still has this issue where it tries t load up the floppy/stiffy -- even though there isn't one -- and when I disable it in the BIOS and Save and Exit, then bloody monitor loses signal AGAIN!

Hey Hagan, I would try and cancel out a few things. First off Go into BIOS and set your on-board graphics to be your primary display. Remove the other graphics card completely. Boot up and tell us whats going on.

anybody else had issues with ie 11 after windows updated it recently, keeps crashing once i put in a url. and no I mainly use chrome

Thanks for the info, but I cannot do anything anymore as my mobos (both of them) are dead. Will be doing an upgrade I'm coming months.
