what internet browser do you prefer and why? What email account do you refer and why

Chrome used to be the fastest... I guess the others just catched up and I haven't noticed. I think I've gotten used to the Chrome interface and it is now inconvenient to switch to something else.

With regards to Opera, I tried Opera (and Safari) out a while ago and I actually liked Opera BUT I found many instances where Opera didn't render the pages correctly and thus removed it again. This was about a year or 2 ago though so they could have improved since then.

this will always be true, browsers will chop and change for first position constantly.

My point wasn't that chrome is slow, but more that stating that as the reason to use the browser is silly.

I have become hacked off at the number of version changes with FF recently and the constant loss of addon compatability. I also have chrome and browsers all the way back to IE6 installed but even with the constant jumping around I always use FF for my regular browser. I will be much happier when they go back to version numbers that relate to the intensity of changes again.

I use Firefox, just easier to browse with it IMO, and I figured out how to clear my recent history on it

Wow so many replies so much interest in this topic. Thanks guys.
One things is clear to me people will always have their own opinion to this subject I don't think that any one will ever come to a conclusion about what browser is the best.

There really is no clear cut winner in the Browser wars. I personally believe that it all comes down to your OS as well as your own preference with regards to speed, reliability and customization. What quickly puts me off when I use a browser is if a page is not displaying correctly or if some script is not working right, and this causes me to move on.

Actually I think you will find there is a clear winner... Chrome.

Chrome, which is barely compatible with addons like Adblock Plus or even the most basic of flv snatchers? How did you come to that conclusion?

As he said, it boils down to personal preference and requirements. Chrome just doesn't cut it for me and I've tried it repeatedly over the years. Nice browser but it falls short of satisfaction.

Anti-virus: Microsoft Security Essentials

I was lucky enough to win a license for Avira Premium from Liking them on Facebook, so I'm covered till April 2013 :)

i mainly use firefox at work and chrome at home. and my home pc has AVAST, which is a great free AV

Chrome has become my preferred browser. I like the easy tab manipulation and searching by typing in the address field. I would prefer if there an option to display a status bar at the bottom.

Don't really use anti-virus much.

Email: Lavabit:Gmail client thunderbird.
Browser: Firefox, have tried the rest but nothing comes close to the experience of firefox.

Chrome is like Apple... people use it because they are confused and these companies say that their product is good.

Unfortunately asking people what their opinion is on such a thing will yield such mixed results as people have their own experience and skill.

If you said "which is the best for ... ?" you could get an answer for that. The question is vague and it got a mixed response, so people can look at each and come to conclusions, I guess, about a general overview of the browsers.
