Woo! Load shedding, woo!

I honestly can't remember...pretty similar situation to what we have now.
The really worrying thing is this is happening during the time of year we use the lowest amount of our grids power...I don't know how they'll cope with Winter 2015...

Electricity will be off for days; many losses will be incurred.

Well, we spent R250K on UPS that will keep our servers and VoIP phones running for ~4 hours. I wonder how much businesses are spending on backup power....and of course we are footing the bill for that as well with increased prices to pay for that genies and diesel.

Well done SA, well done, should probably stock up on gas and candles.

The jhb okes seem to be suffering longer hits while pta okes seem to be leading on the "schedule trustworthiness" front.

I've gotta say, our schedules do seem to be more reliable in Pretoria. Here, I have always been shed at the right time (or not at all). I visited my parents on Saturday (in Joburg) and their load shedding was supposed to happen in the wee hours of the morning (12:00-03:00) but instead happened at 16:30-19:30. I don't know how Erkurhuleni worked that out.

on my way home, which is a 12km drive, I encountered only 2 working robots so I guess jhb was hit hard by black outs last night (or as the joke goes, not black out but previously lit areas)

Friday, Saturday, Sunday and yesterday our power was off from about 2pm until 6:30pm. Eskom really hates my neighbourhood.
