December Games With Gold has been announced

We will be getting the following games free on Games With Gold for the month of December:

Xbox One:
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing
Thief

Xbox 360:
Castlestorm
Sacred 3
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

Remember that all the X360 games will be backwards compatible on the Xbox One, so grab them as well and start building a back log of games for your Xbox One.

No you're not missing something. But it is free games. Games that I don't need to pay anything for. So hey I'm happy. I've wanted to play Thief, and Operation Flashpoint so I'm happy with the list of games.

Fair enough, but it does not incentivize me to buy Gold for the purpose.

I look at it this way: I pay about R500 per year for my Xbox Gold service, and throughout the year I've received more than 10x the value in free games to date. That to me is a big bargain, even though there are games that I may not fancy by the look of it, they are still free, and I can play them if I wanted to.

I'm pretty happy with that. I own Van Helsing 2 on Steam through a bundle but didn't have 1 yet so it was something that I was going to get sometime in any case. And Thief I got with Games With Gold on the 360 but now I can play it on the XBox One. :)

Fair enough, but how much value have those games really added?

Having PC (Steam), PS4 and XB1 I have a huge backlog (like [MENTION=20]Solitude[/MENTION] I may need to adopt Trello), as such I have become more picky and sticking to games that only interest me or have a desire to play, not just to have.

Very true. but for people without all those amenities Xbox Gold is actually a lot of value. I don't have a working PC not a PS4, and most people aren't lucky enough to have all of those platforms as well. So Xbox Gold has real value for people like me. For you, I'd say it's not worth it, and if there is a game that seems like a good deal, then you can always just get Gold for that month.

And that is exactly where the confusion came in, I was referring specifically to myself. :p

Also forget the beauty of Gold (compared to PS+), is once you get a game it's yours for life regardless of an active subscription.

Thief = R250
Van Helsing = not finding it in the store, but i'd wager it is R150 or so.

So that is R400 right there, and theoretically you only paid R50 for it.

Now add Xbox360 to it , and future backwards compatibility of some of those titles and it gets even more...i'm definitely grabbing Sacred 3 / Op Flashpoint etc. It is still the same R50 you are paying for this also.

I'm not talking about monetary value, but value to ME! All it would do is add to an ever growing backlog list of games I will probably never play. To me there is no value in that.

Same here, I got an email confirmation but link to the CDkey is not working or for some reason my account does not want to authenticate. Reset password also does not send me an email
