With new graphics cards flooding into the market, many gamers will be upgrading their gaming rigs in order to accomadate newer GPU generations.
However, for those who cannot afford a R10,000 graphics card or are just getting into PC gaming, these entry-level GPUs may be just right for you:
Radeon RX 460 2GB – R1,999
The Radeon RX 460 is unquestionably the greatest budget graphics card on the market, at least until the release of Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1050.
The 2GB version offers console-level performance at a great price.
Radeon RX 460 4GB – R2,499
The 4GB version of the Radeon RX 460 offers similar perforamance but removes any possible bottlenecks caused by the 2GB of VRAM.
While it may not offer a general step up in performance, it could improve performance in certain texture-heavy titles.
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB – R2,349
The GeForce GTX 750 Ti remains Nvidia’s entry-level gaming GPU and still competes with Maxwell cards in terms of performance.
Although it is not as power efficient or as future-proof as the latest generation of GPUs, the GTX 750 Ti is a powerful and reliable graphics processing workhorse.
Radeon R7 260X 2GB – R2,153
The Radeon R7 260X 2GB, like the GeForce GTX 750 TI, belongs to an older GPU generation and is subsequently quite reasonably priced.
It offers decent budget performance at a good price and is a good choice for an entry-level GPU if you have adequate power and cooling.
Radeon R7 360 2GB – R2,165
The Radeon R7 360 is similar to the R7 260 in many ways and is based on the same architecture and manufacturing process.
There really is no major difference between the cards, but it is worth comparing the two to decide which works best for your budget.
