Gain access to over 260 settings in Windows 10 with ‘God Mode’

On the surface, as Microsoft pushes for platform uniformity and connectedness, each new iteration of their OS seems less and less accommodating of the power user, or just about anyone who wants to take more control over their operating system.

While that is certainly true to some extent, the unavoidable automatic updates of Windows 10 being a prime example, though thankfully they’ve released a tool to avoid a lot of the nonsense it’s caused, it’s not the case for all aspects of Windows 10.

The rather appropriately named “God Mode” has been the darling of Microsoft’s power user community for the past few versions of Windows – from Windows 7 onwards to be precise.

You go about activating it the same way in each version, and what it does is create a hub, a central command of sorts, that contains virtually every option and setting for the OS in one convenient place. Pretty neat, right?

So just how do you go about activating this fantastical, super control panel? It’s really quite simple:

1. Make sure your system account has administrative privileges.
2. Create a new folder on your desktop: To do so, right-click on the Windows 10 desktop and choose New> Folder.
3. Name the newly created folder: {ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}and hit enter/return to make confirm the name.
4. Once created, the folder will now contain all of the new settings.

The folder itself has around 40+ categories, but digging into each setting will garner you access to everything else.

To be honest, power users will know how to access virtually every setting offered in God Mode without actually needing the God Mode folder, but it’s about as convenient as it’s going to get. For everyone else, you’re welcome.

The most convenient function of God Mode for us is offering the settings from the ‘Settings’ app in Windows 10, which you can’t create a shortcut for.

Annoyingly, those settings aren’t available in Control Panel, so God Mode is our go-to folder as a result.
