Minecraft’s mobile edition is set to receive an update that will bring it in line with the more flexible PC version.
The biggest change in the update comes in the form of “command blocks” – items that will be completely programmable and usable by the player character.
These command blocks act as an updated version of texture packs and will not only re-texture tiles, but allow for new music, adjustable models, and in-game animation.
Jens Bergenstein, lead developer on Minecraft, indicated that “command blocks” were just the beginning and that the company hoped to enable extensive changes, including mod capabilities on both mobile versions as well as consoles.
The mobile version will also boast new graphical improvements, including the option to turn on anti-aliasing and the addition of animated water.
The severely limited Windows 10 version of the game will receive a similar update, bringing it in line with the other PC versions. No release date has been set for the upcoming 0.15.0 update.
