Those of you who are actively publishing YouTube videos may have noticed a sudden decline in subscriber numbers, as Google has begun culling inactive accounts.
The results of the mass deletion are most noticeable on bigger YouTube accounts, with Shacknews reporting that “an average of 1% to 2% of subscriptions have been lost by content creators”.
YouTube itself lost 40,000 subscribers, while PewDiePie lost over 613,000 subscribers.
It is not currently known how many accounts were deleted or what the requirements were for deletion, but the process is believed to still be ongoing.
How active are you on your YouTube account? Were you one of the unlucky few to have it deleted? Let us know in the comments below and in our forums.
