News you may have missed (28 May – 1 June)

The saying ‘the calm before the storm’ is absolute rubbish. Next week is the colossal E3 expo, and thinking that the week prior to all the big showings is a terrible misconception. MyGaming was swarmed with pre-E3 content, news and announcements that excited, intrigued and kept us busy throughout the week.

Pre E3 peek

E3 stuff rolled in hard and fast, as we got new details, screenshots and reveals for Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Rising, a new Gears of War, Star Wars: 1313, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, just to name a few.

>> Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance E3 trailer makes it right
>> Star Wars 1313 revealed: dark and mature game promised
>> Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 confirmed, debut trailer
>> New Gears of War is heading our way

>> Superheroes face-off in Injustice: Gods Among Us
>> Dishonored E3 trailer sneaks in for the kill

Crystal ball still a little fuzzy

There’s still a lot of questions as to what may be shown at E3.

>> New Need for Speed exposed by E3 schedule
>> Splinter Cell: Blacklist rumoured for E3
>> E3 rumour: Sony to announce new Storyteller e-book feature for PS3

Where’s my blankie!?

We braced ourselves for some upcoming scares.

>> Doom 3 BFG Edition announced
>> Among the Sleep puts you in the horrifying booties of a toddler

Scrooge McBuck

Prices were slapped on some things, and people made some noise about it.

Winter savings

Some games and services became a lot cheaper.

>> DotA 2 will be free to play for everyone

If there’s a will, there’s a way

Carmageddon reboot reached its Kickstarter target and Chinese gamers found a way to get Diablo III despite current availability issues.

>> Blizzard promises to “react quickly” to Diablo III issues

But, instead of celebrating all the great game announcements, industry people continued complaining.

It was tough to choose a video of the week given all the mind-blowing E3 trailers. So, ignoring those, the standout trailer came from Hitman: Absolution, showing some of his new rivals, The Saints.
