Xbox One gets first price cut

24 February 2014

Microsoft has announced its first price cut for the Xbox One in the UK, down to £399.99 from its current £429.99 affective from 28 February 2014. No price cuts for other regions have been announced.

Additionally, Microsoft has confirmed their Titanfall Xbox One bundle in partnership with EA and Respawn will also cost £399.99. The bundle includes:

  • Download code for a digital copy of “Titanfall”
  • Standard Xbox One console and Kinect sensor
  • Standard Xbox One wireless controller
  • Standard Xbox One Chat Headset
  • One month Xbox Live Gold membership

Speaking to Eurogamer, Xbox UK managing director Harvey Eagle downplayed the slower sales of the Xbox One compared to its competitor PS4, and said that the price cut wasn’t about competing with the PS4, but about capitalising on the launch of Titanfall, which Microsoft reckons will be a big system-seller.

Titanfall is launching in March 2014 on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. You can catch up with all of the MyGaming Titanfall coverage here.

While it’s great to hear that our UK friends are getting an Xbox One price cut, there is still no news of the console launching in South Africa. The current rumour puts the launch at around October 2014 in SA, along with a number of other regions still waiting for the device.
