The game actually crashes exiting certain missions, due to the lack of RAM (is what I suspect).

This game uses at least 95% of my RAM so I can excuse the stutter. Battlefield 4 uses around 75%; loading times and stutter are far more significant there. Explain that... :confused:

Well I do own a GTX 970 so I would like to get the most out of the game as this will be the main reason I get it. Considering I've bought and played it on two separate occasions already. So I would like to know that my machine should comfortably handle it (obviously not at max, but in order for it to be on par with or better than current gen console).

Do you have a amd gpu?
 
Don't be too quick to blame the RAM. The game has a lot of weird crashes. I often crash when I die and if I use any throwable weapons and then try to shoot from a vehicle it crashes too.

I have had no crashes and I have played a shitload.

I download and started using the beta drivers on its release and did notice improvement. Still, more RAM is essential for multitasking. :)

Edit: I have 8GB of RAM (4 currently not in use); need the new mobo to make use of it.
 
I also have 8GB of RAM which works fine. However, my pagefile was set to be only 2GB. The game alt tabbed me and complained about memory limits or something (although I still had 1GB RAM free). Increasing the size of my pagefile removed the problem.

Not sure why it did this, but oh well. I haven't crashed in quite some time.

Yeah, I set my page file to 10GB and it also fixed a lot of my stuttering.

Does that still work? I remember doing it years ago in Win 98 (I think) and XP.

Tried it once or twice on Win 7 didnt see much improvement and had some issues, might try this again on Win 8.

As a rule page file should be 50% of your ram. 10gig pagefile is overkill.

pagefile acts as temp storage for ram, so the more ram and the faster your harddrive the less need there is for a big pagefile
 
I've got a question. What makes GTA V so good? I mean, I look at it and it doesn't really look like a lot of fun. The last GTA I played was GTA 3 and I didn't enjoy it that much.

Is it just one of those games that I'll enjoy once I start playing it?
