Mass Effect 3 PC lacks controller support

It's a shame it's missing, but I'll be playing M+KB rather than using my x360 controller anyway.

I really just don't get why developers always seem to get this wrong. When they bring the PC version either it supports controllers and forces you to use a UI designed for them even when using Mouse/KB or it 'optimizes' it for mouse/kb and then just removes the controller support. Playing on PC is suppose to be about being able to play the way you want, which means being able to choose what control scheme you want to use.

Monk... +10 inets dude!
I personally prefer third person games with a controller... now i am being denied? WHHHHHHYYYYYYYY?!?!?!
and now not only am i forced to use m/kb... but i have to use the scum of the universe (origin) just to play the damn game?? looking forward to it :/

I may be missing something here but isn't Mouse and Keyboard the "interface devices of real gamers" so why are the pc folks moaning?

I played ME1 and ME2 perfectly without a controller (firstly because I don't have a controller and secondly because ME1 & 2 didn't support a controller)... and wouldn't want to play ME3 any other way.

Because PC gamers like options.

No pc gamers want their bread buttered on both side. Every fanboy cock fight always has the "keyboard/Mouse" argument in and now when a dev says "ok fine, have your Keyboard/Mouse" its all "Why doesn't it have controller support?!!!"

Lol, no short-sightedness here at all. Put right hand on mouse. Put left-hand on WASD part of keyboard. MASH BUTTONZ. Sorted.

edit: Uh, I'm a PC gamer and have played Mass Effect 1 & 2. Really looking forward to #3 ;)

I don't see the problem with that. Some games are more fun with a controller, others with a keyboard and mouse, and it differs from person to person. The PC supports a controller so why can't I use it if I have one?

Why do you hate PC gamers so much anyway?

Yeah I agree some games are better than other with/without controllers but why is a game not supporting a control such a big deal. I am sure its not the only game that doesn't and just because it doesn't natively support a gamepad doesn't mean there isn't some way to "make" it work. So why make a huge deal out of it?

This is normally where some ignorant fool pops in and says "He hates everyone."

Its less a hate than a general dislike, it actually extends to all gamers. I just find them whiny, entitled, never satisfied, gits. I also have bared witness to numerous "debates" where people who choose to play on console is blamed from everything from "boring games" to "decline of the industry" and its normally the "die hard" pc crowd that comes up this shit. Now here we have a game that's lack of controller suppose actually seems to indicate that isn't not just a console port and suddenly people are lamenting the fact that they are being denied the chance to play the game in a more consoley-way.

But like I said is probably just me and my misanthropy acting up again.

That was uncalled for.

Putting everyone in one box doesn't make much sense. You want to make games for these same people that you dislike so much, I don't get it. Not everybody goes on to every forum and complain about every feature (or lack thereof) for every game. There are loads more people that just play their games and have fun.

Are these necessarily the same people though? Like I said, people like options. We're not all the same.

I just find it strange how you can develop an entire UI for use with a controller and just not put it in, it's already been made, why not just have the option.

How So? People see me dropping big words they dont understand - like Misanthropy - and jump to the conclusion that I hate everyone. Their lack of understanding exactly what Misanthropy is, coupled with them not knowing me makes them ignorant.

I dont put everyone in one box but I have a special box for these kinds of people. By these people I mean those who do go online and complain about every single thing - this game is too consoley, this game has drm so i wont get it blah blah blah. - those that don't I dont mind because they, like me & many other on this forum, try and enjoy the game for what it is instead of either going on nostalgic trips to yester year or finding some nearly insignificant aspect of a developer/publisher/game to crucify.

Luckily for me, or possibly for the public (depending on how you look at it), my ability to function as a reasonably half decent human being does not depend on my ability to "like" people. Similarly my ability to craft experiences in the form of games isn't dependant on me "liking" gamers, because like you said not all of them are whiny, entitled, gits. All I need to do is understand them, something I struggle with on a daily basis and am continually endeavouring to do better.

But we have ventured way off topic here. If you would like to discuss this further feel free to PM me.

Yeah that part is a little weird. Separate development platforms possibly?

It's actually going to take a lot of coding hours to implement a system whereby the interface switches over between the two based on what control scheme you are using.

I'm sure their reasoning was "Is it worth it to spend those man hours adding this feature when the majority of PC gamers are going to be using the M+KB solution and a very small minority will be using controllers".

They likely thought that if you really really really prefer playing with a controller you will be getting it on console anyway.

That's my assumption at least... :/
