The Joker

Thread Killer MKII
Ok so I am not sure how many of you guys know about this but Nvidia are planning on launching a new Titan.
The card is called the Titan black and will set you back roughly $1300 :wtf::confused:

In actual fact its a normal GTX780Ti, They then added 3GB extra memory, then took a black crayon and wrote Titan on it. All this just before Maxwell is launching...

They are such money hungry idiots and they are really exploiting their customer base...Its retarded.

So its roughly $400-$600 more than a 780Ti, when in fact its the EXACT same card with more memory...There won't be non reference versions as far as I know, they will be voltage locked and honestly you would have to be a complete numpty to buy one over a 780Ti.

Ugh

You know I've never had any problems (mechanical or otherwise) with a Nvidia card. The "other one" ...... let's not go there :p

*puts on anti-Joker flame suit*

Their business model is fcking balls though.

I don't mind Nvidia cards bud, personally I run any and all fast GPU's that includes the 780TI and the Titan, what grinds me is the way they just keep trying to cash in...I know its a business and companies are in the business of making money but this is shameless exploitation of idiots (Yes you would have to a complete idiot to buy one of these)

They're called nvidiots :D

Btw, Joker did you get my PM?

Oh I totally agree - you can't even blink without Nvidia releasing 3 new cards, each with some sticky tape stuck over the previous model number.

lol nice

I did yes, will drop you a message a little later bud.

All I can do is steer my clientele in a different direction then, I'll make sure to sell them a 780Ti or a R 9 290X, not this Titan black rubbish lol

Is it really necessary to drop 10 grand+ on a GPU? What long-term offerings and benefits would such a card have over your average mid-high range GPUs -- and do the latest games/GPU-required software need whatever power something like that will throw at them?

And the power consumption as well. Shit.

Edit: I'm sure a card like my GTX650 will more than suffice for the latest games, will it not? Difference is, obviously -- I will not be gaming at resolutions exceeding 1360x768, so I expect above-playable framerates. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It all depends on what resolution you want to play and how high you want the graphics settings at.

Personally, I don't see myself spending more than R3000 - R4000 on a GPU ever.

The last GPU (GTX 550Ti) that I bought about 3 years ago cost me R2000 and I can still play games on medium high settings.

Plus your correct about power consumption, the bigger the card, the bigger the PSU needed to power it.

Also consider that if you have a insane GPU that the rest of your rig needs to be up to spec otherwise its going to bottleneck that GPU.

It really all depends what you want from your rig, if you just want to game and you don't care about settings then no these high end cards are not worth it. I on the other hand want a smooth gorgeous gaming experience at a a massive res (2560x1440 @ 120Hz) so I need top end cards for that. I don't game on console or any other platform for that matter so I don't spending that much.

As for power requirements...The old top dogs used to draw a lot of power, but gpu's these days are so efficient and well made that you could run a high end system off of a good quality 500W psu.

Seems legit. Could I order 2 of these Joker :)

No I'll save you from yourself, you can however order a Gigabyte GTX780TI Windforce 3 Oc Edition :D
Or alternatively a Gigabyte R9 290/X Windforce 3 Oc Edition :P

Lol, I can almost imagine the ads now "nVidia Titan BLACK...once you black you never go back " :D

lol - first google search result for "Titan black" returned this puppy (and I'm sure these will cost more than the graphics cards):
http://www.titanblack.co.uk/collection/rolex

Okay - Monkey nuts...they're WAAAAY more expensive (maybe one day when I'm rich...na probably not even then):
£17,500.00 - according to google that's R322,247.59

Anyway yeah some interesting reading here:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN Black Is Not, in Fact, Black (lol)

Anyway I'll pass on the GPU this time...maybe I'll consider the watch :p

So Joker, what's a Gigabyte GTX780TI Windforce 3 Oc Edition go for these days anyway?
