Missed that info, so happy to give Nico the benefit then. On thinking about it now, it does sort of make sense because they pitted both cars at the same time under the Virtual Safety Car so probably were a bit pressed at the time to get their cars both out without losing places.

Yep basically what happened. They grabbed the tires that was ready for them, I suspect that it was the first ones they grabbed.

I think he had a ton of potential, he unfortunately made bad calls when signing with teams. He will forever be a 2nd driver in all teams, same as massa. Rosberg is a broken man, he is showing a lot of strength these last few races which started in Monaco when he basically ignored team orders.
 
Well i liked the fact the Both the redbulls were on the podium again for a change maybe this is their turn around. i know it's too late but maybe its a step forward to next year. And it was nice to see Vettel there even if he is in a red car :(.

Compared to HAM he's a delight! I do feel for ROS, he's getting screwed over regularly, often where he doesn't really deserve it; I just feel he deserved to finish ahead of HAM Sunday.

I'm so glad I caught the race, I still told my wife I'd watch on my PC so that I could do some work while the procession was going on, but I did absolutely nothing while watching! :D

Omg, I think Spa was officially one of the most boring races this year. Yes there was overtaking, Vettel made a few stunning passes, Grosjean as well. Then there was the Pirelli problems, 2 blown tires again this weekend, both Rosberg and Vettel was not impressed at all, if the tires blew 200 yards before, both of them would have had horrific accidents.

Then the fact that Botta's got sent out on 3 medium tires and one soft. They give them a drive thru penalty since it is supposedly unsafe - but the team continues to race with those tires for a while before bringing him in to change tires. So where is the safety issue? Yes he had loads of issues with the car during that time - but he was still racing.

I just have no idea what they think this will do to F1, its seriously makes me wonder if this sport is even still real F1.

I only saw Vettel's blowout, the other must've been during one of my (many) naps. I really feel bad for Vettel, but they were taking a bit of a gamble staying out that long on those tyres. Bottas was allowed to continue as it didn't make the car unsafe as such, just unbalanced; think of a car pulling to the left all the time. This affects the wear on all the tyres really badly, as well as the set up of the car; uneven wear will lead to poor camber, which shows in the lack of pace he had in that section of the race. The rules simply state that matched sets have to be used, it's never described as a safety based regulation.

I'm still miffed about RIC not finishing, he was having a really nice drive.
 
The other blowout was in one of the free practices on friday. Also it has come out they where told that those tires can do about 40 laps. Apparently there was little warning that the tire was going. It delaminated so quickly, both times. It was why the Ferrari team was surprised by it. I also thought they where taking a chance, if the gamble paid off he would have been on the podium, but I still believe even if they pitted him with 10 laps to go, they would have made on to the podium. At least Grosjean did actually drive beautifully this race, I was really impressed by him. I feel sorry tho for the Mclarens. I just cannot believe how crap that engine really is.

Good video post, thanks for that! It didn't look like delamination, but rather like an old school blow out to me, but I didn't really look at any super slow-mo's or anything. But you're absolutely right, the tire should hold until way after it's feasible to put laps on the board; i.e. it should be so slow that you need to change it long before it comes close to failing.

Other than that, yeah, GRO had a good race, thoroughly deserved fourth place, and I'm willing to put money on ALO leaving McHonda at the end of the year.

Yea I saw that as well, I just love the fact that they are trying to cover their arses now. But I can promise you that Ferrari would not have taken the chance if the telemetry and the details that they got from Pirelli at the track that day. Also there was apparently another blowout in the GP2 race - which was hectic from what I have heard.

Woooooooow, the last photo in that first link!! Pirelli has major shit, in order to fix that (assuming an audit shows the tire was manufactured 100% correctly), they'll need a thorough redesign of the tire.

Yep, that is why there is such panic from them. They are in deep shyte I suspect. Especially since they had issues in the GP2 as well as the F1, and saying that a tire was cut 2 times in the f1 and what ever excuse they dug up for gp2. And no offence if you watched the video of Vettel, you can see the delamination, then blow out. His lap times was consistent the whole session so where you normally can feel the tires getting old, he felt confident enough to go at the same pace. These F1 drivers can feel the difference in the tire the moment they start to loose grip. That delamination was a failure - not on Ferrari's part. Especially since they discussed the race strategy with a Pirelli Technician in the garage with them and they did not tell them no dont do a 1 stop. Vettel did a longers first stint as well compared to everyone else.
