Hamilton was robbed! Very interesting F1 race though.

And here I dont give a darn that he was robbed! I am ecstatic for Rosberg and I just loved Vettel's comment on the podium - I am very happy!

It was unfair tho that Alonso got that 5 sec penalty, when no one else was penalized1 for the same thing. And also Verstappen did drive beautifully and then forgot he is in a F1 car and not a kart. His lack of experience showed today with that crash of his.

Haha I must say that I don't know all the F1 politics yet and I didn't watch the podium stuff. :)

But yeah the Alonso penalty was messed up. Verstappen was brilliant when he followed the Ferrari! That really was such a great idea. But his crash was unfortunate. Hopefully he will learn from this.

He will learn he is only 17! So very young still.

My favourite part of the day was Lewis's reactions from the end of the race - where he wanted to park the car and skip the podium - but his engineers must have told him to come in or he will be disqualified. His lip was so long he almost tripped and couldnt get out of the car :P (Sorry I have no respect for him as a person, as a driver he can be good when it all goes his way.) I feel incredibly sorry for Rosberg tho, his season is over thanks to what happened today, the team orders will be let lewis thru no matter what. Considering what they are paying Lewis to stay with them for the next three years.

My sad point today was the fact this was the race where Bianchi got his first points for a team that shouldnt have gotten any. And from what I have read, his family is loosing hope, I believe we lost Bianchi on the day of the crash, I can go on about the huge mess that day was.

So the Junior World Cup started last night, and the Baby Boks played against Italy. Italy is the host nation for this tournament, so it was expected that they would play with even more passion and intensity. The Baby boks beat the Asurinni 33-5, and this was the first time ever that the Italian side could score a try agains the Baby Boks. The Boks were very rusty in execution, and at times looked just way too sloppy, but the last 15 minutes showed the promise of what their game can give should they be firing on all cylinders. I have high hopes for their chances in the competition, but they'll need to protect their rucks much better, and they must ensure their execution is much better.

Then Seb Blatter has resigned from FIFA, and the whole world rejoices. I think his resignation was forced though, as I'm sure there are more than enough evidence against him to make a criminal charge, so I think he was forced to step down.

Thanks for the update on the rugby. I wanted to find out what the score was but completely forgot about it.

Speaking of rugby see there are a few huge moves again. Bulls losing William Small Smith. and another player and also Hougie.
Then the Guppies pull the sale of the year with Joe Peterson and Willie Le Roux. Also i see Cornel Hendriks will also be leaving the Cheetahs.

So come next year the bulls will struggle again with half a new team, rly getting tired of all the overseas money pulling our talent.

Morne might be in bok running again as he's preforming well for stade, scored 28 points with the boot again this weekend and pulled them into a semi final

And then oh the horridness of the new springbok jersey OMG!!!! i'll be skipping this years WC jersey for the first time since 95

I dont think its that bad to be honest... And that 70g is going to make all the difference when the guys are out there on the field "whistling:

My whole gripe with it is Why cram a big ass Asics logo in the middle why not put the Bok logo there and move the Asics to the side or even the back.

I don't want to start a whole debate war here about heritage and all that but just think about this don't need to comment.

A few years ago every springbok was proud to hold his hand over his heart and clamp onto that springbok. then they moved it and what happened the boks took there hands of their chests and just stood arm in arm(i know it sounds wrong). The pride of the springbok faltered.

it just doesn't have the same meaning anymore and i think that is one of the reasons our players don't bother playing for their country anymore i'm not saying it's the only reason but it's one of them.

I was able to watch a little of the Hurricanes vs Highlands and Force vs Brumbies earlier today. I was impressed with Ma'a Nonu and his running. Creative, quick and strong. The last 20 minutes of the Brumbies vs Force was probably the most exciting of the match. All local derbies today.

Another incredibly disappointing performance by the Bulls. A shocker of a tour for them down under. Pfft!

I have to disagree with you that was a game that was ours and the ref literally fkn robbed us it's as if the officiating in every game jsut keeps getting worse and worse as the season progresses. i can tell you every single mistake that ref made that cost us today for instance the three high tackles in a space of 10 seconds that just went unnoticed.

It was realy horrid officiating today in that game and that same ref has been match banned before for kak officiating

My apologies AlienTaker, for you and team. I am aware that officiating has been incredibly suspect in a number of games. Not having seen the whole game, I am going to back off here. I recall a forum a few forum members in MyBB bleating bitterly in a few of the games.

So does this come down to a toothless SARU vs SANZAR? Do we have no clout to question the judgmental calls? Or how does it work?

It comes to saru not being man enough to open their money hungry mouths for what's right and SA teams always getting the short end of the stick look at the 2 waratahs red cards and bans that came in last week 2 weeks and 3 weeks the 3 sharks players that got bans for the same offences got 4 6 and 7 weeks how do you justify that?

A sub committee should be brought in to apeal shit liek this because it will give die hard fans like me a heart attack before i'm even due for one.

SA Judging panels just don't have the BALLS to make the right calls

You say this and I recall the incident where the Sharks player got a couple of weeks. It was then reviewd by the Higher powers of Sanzar and the punishment was increased. I think this is one of the worst and most blatant cases / examples. It doesn't make sense or feel good for Saffer sides.

You know the reffing is the lowest of the low when you commiserate with a 'hated' team ...... I felt for the Bullies. So much bias bullshit officiating this season and the only thing that pisses me off more is when idiots cannot see it.

Too Many Penalties Spoil The Broth – Austrian GP Preview
Thomas Maher June 18, 2015

It’s not yet even practice day in Austria, and already the grid is set to be another mixed up affair as McLaren & Red Bull appear to be taking penalties. There’s a very interesting chart doing the rounds at the moment, courtesy of the FIA. On this particular chart, there’s a particularly striking figure that shows the relative state of play between the engine manufacturers at the moment. Closing in on the halfway point of this season, Sergio Perez has finally said “Auf Wiedersehen” to the engine that he has used since the very start of the year when he lined up in Australia. Astonishing really, when you consider the near-constant penalties that are now starting to hit the Renault & Honda powered drivers.

Both Jenson Button & Fernando Alonso needed engine components changed in Canada, with Alonso moving onto his final power unit. While Fernando escaped penalty due to still being within his season’s allowance, Jenson wasn’t so fortunate. It’s more of the same this weekend, with Fernando looking to take a penalty for more power unit component changes. While possibly not necessary, Jenson Button has hinted that he will also take a penalty by changing parts. Why take a deliberate penalty? It’s simply due to the fact that McLaren believe Austria will not suit their package, and are essentially writing off the weekend as a test session. All going to plan, this would theoretically mean that they wouldn’t have to take a penalty at a later round that they are less ill-suited for. An overly complicated mess, and unless Honda suddenly find incredible Mercedes-esque reliability, more penalties await for the beleaguered Woking squad.

Similarly, Red Bull & Toro Rosso are just as affected. Max Verstappen is already on his 5th engine of the year, with Daniel Ricciardo & Daniil Kvyat are on their final ICEs. Carlos Sainz is the only Renault powered driver that isn’t sitting on the verge of grid penalties as it stands, scant consolation for Very-Chatillon. A tactical decision is expected to be made by Red Bull on Thursday night on whether to trigger automatic penalties, for similar reasons to McLaren. A disastrous home race at their eponymous circuit last season looks set to be eclipsed completely by the weekend in store for RBR, and it couldn’t have come at a more uncomfortable time for the team’s owner Dietrich Mateschitz. He, as well as members of upper management at the team, have been vocally critical of the current rules regarding engine homologation – homologation rules that prevent a lagging manufacturer from making significant change in any sort of competitively beneficial timespan.

“There is no driver and no chassis which is able to compensate for this lack of horsepower. What else has to happen that we will lose our motivation completely?” he said to Motorsport.com today. “I cannot predict now what will happen it two or three years, who will go out of Formula 1 or will come in. I don’t know if we will have our teams still. In F1, it’s better not to make any predictions.” – hardly words that give confidence of Red Bull’s commitment to what they feel is no longer providing a good return on investment.

No such problems for Mercedes or their customers though, none of which have even moved onto their third engines of the year. Austria’s high speed opening half of the lap will reward significant grunt, and the scarcely slower closing half will reward those who can keep their feet planted for as long as possible through the quick sweeps of Rauch, Wurth & Rindt. With both Williams capably taking on the two Ferraris in Canada, there’s little reason to think that Williams’ form from last year in Austria will be considerably weaker – especially with scheduled upgrades being made to the FW37 this weekend; updates that the Williams squad have been quite bullish about.

The real question mark this weekend will be about how competitive Ferrari are capable of being. A look to last year’s race is unrepresentative based on how much they improved their power unit from then, and Sebastian Vettel has sought to play down any expectations going into this race. He was the only man who showed comparable race pace to the Mercedes men in Canada, so it remains to be seen whether Ferrari’s Canadian upgrades have brought the SF-15T any closer to the W06. Ferrari’s car may be the most consistent challenger to Mercedes, but the Italian squad will have a very tough time seeing off Williams at this particular venue.

It will be interesting to see how Nico Hulkenberg fares this weekend. While no driver consciously would make less of an effort, Hulkenberg’s recent form has been sporadic as his F1 future dimmed along with his team’s competitiveness. With the Le Mans winner suddenly thrown back into the spotlight, Nico is re-energised after his first win (or podium) in several years; a nice shot in the arm for anyone. Racing error with Vettel aside, Hulkenberg easily had the measure of Sergio Perez in Canada after a lacklustre Monaco weekend – it wouldn’t be altogether surprising to see him blitz the Mexican driver while riding the wave of confidence he will be on.

Expect the top ten to be 80% made up of Mercedes powered cars, with the two Ferraris in there for a little bit of variety.

Here is the table that they refer to . . . It shows the amount of changes that each driver had to make to their engine up till now. What saddens me the most is, there are 12 races including this weekends race still left - do we expect to see the red bulls and mclaren at the back of the grid for the rest of the season. Although Mclaren has bare finished a race at this point. I don't expect Alonso to keep racing after this season - it wouldnt surprise me if he leaves before the end of the season.

Engine changes list

Also a brilliant article about Adrian Newey

Solitude, did you watch the F1?

What a race, this was the first race I didnt fall asleep during. It was a hectic start with alonso ending up on top of Kimi's car. Button retiring just after that. And then there were more retirements and only 14 cars finished the race. Also found this image explaining the grid penalties Alonso, Button and the two red bull drivers where given up to 25 grid place penalties - that had to be taken during the race with 5sec penalty stops since they already were dropped to the back of the grid.
