Apologies if I'm duplicating but I cannot find a thread for HoN.

So I used to play this about a year of 2 back. Had a lot of fun. But then the beta came to a halt and just never got round to buying it.

Been thinking about buying it, especially considering how cheap it is. What are your thoughts?

I've heard a lot of negative criticism regarding the community (but South Africa's Dota Twilight community was also mostly populated be pre-pubescent kiddies with too much time on their hands, so It's probably just a competitive PC gamer thing)

Who's all playing? Is there a decent group of people here on Mygaming? Speak to me! :-D
 
It's only $10 atm, so buy it (apparently it's to celebrate 500k accounts sold).
Most South Africans hang out in the zagamers channel (80+ people in that channel most of the time). Although some only play int because they don't like the local playerbase very much and I honestly can't blame them. The concurrent player number peaks at 45K+ so theirs always people to play with.

But yeah, get it guy... also the shop is fun... I have so much items and didn't once use real monies.
 
I have also been hearing bad things about it, but was actually thinking of getting it a while back, but couldn't get hold of credit card to purchase it :(. Wish these online sites would make other ways of payments.
 
Haha, yah, I usually have to steal my girlfriends credit card...and then convince her theres no monthly fee! :-D But...now theres rumours that DOTA 2 is being launched soon...decisions decisions...grrrr
 
Hmmm, yah. I'm getting the feeling that now isnt the right time to get hon. Sure its only like 70bucks...but i honestly actually dont know that many people who play! plus i pay per meg used (at uni) and I hear it has rather high data usage.
 
VERY VERY SIMILIAR! to be honest it's really just a better graphics version of the same game! And there are some nicer features, like being able to drop in and out of a game etc. Most of the heroes and items are the same as well.
 
Data usage is around 30mb an hour last time i cared to monitor that. Things might have changed though.
 
And my personal favorite.... the shop... its so much more easier to use than DotA's shop(s)... that's actually one of the main reasons I never got into DotA. And ingame guides to help you out if you dont know which items to buy for what hero(more recently they have guides made by players, so more than one choice of build)

really I never had problems knowing what items to get for the dota heroes, but in HON I am clueless
 
Maybe thats coz you played DotA for a long time?

Clueless with HoN's items?
You click a recipe, out comes the items you need, you can even buy straight from there also, or if you have enough money right click the recipe and you good to go.
