Official Wasteland 2 thread

Glad you liked it. Any plans on another playthrough?

If I had more time perhaps, but the game takes quite some time to play through, so if I do another play through, it won't be now. Maybe when I'm on vacation again.

You doing a second playthrough?

I'm still about halfway on my first playthrough, not sure if I'll do one directly either. Might just start and then pause for a bit etc, or I might wait a few months and then start one again. Definitely planning on doing more playthroughs down the line though

I'd like to do one too, especially now that I know more about where to focus skills, and which ones I don't need. I'd definitely have someone use shotguns on my 2nd play :)

Funny you'd mention that. I have a guy with a shotgun in my party and he feels ineffective :P

Well the later game shotguns kick ass though, so hang in there :)

I hope so, they are way too weak at close range early game. One would expect a point blank shotgun to basically kill somebody with 3 or less armour, but it only does 20-25 damage to a target with up to 100hp.

One thing that the game needs though is a formation button of some sort. So often you engage combat with everyone in your team clumped in a group. Then you're an easy target for grenade lobbers and guys with shotguns.

I try to set up my team before engaging the fight, but it doesn't always work out that way, sometimes combat engages as soon as you enter an area or room.

My favorite gun late game was the assault rifles though, high crit chance, nice armor pen and high damage. On burst I could sometimes kill 400HP mobs with on burst. They also have excellent range.

Yeah Crzwaco was saying the same thing about formations. I've seen several situations already where they would have been very helpful. I think my next playthrough will be with a very combat-skill heavy group with very high initiative. Try and see if I can take out the threats before they get the first attack in on me.

Had a quiet moment this weekend, YAY, WL2!
2Gb patch starts downloading....

I'm bandwidth deprived...amongst other things.

Was slightly unhappy. :(

Yeah, a high initiative group might be the best.

I was also wondering about the game though. If you look at the attributes, there is a maximum of 14 AP's that you can have. However, I'm not sure if it is possible to get all the attribute points required to get all 14 AP's. I haven't checked though, but perhaps if you lower Charisma, Luck, etc all the way down it might be possible. It would be quite cool to have 14 AP's so you can attack twice with Assault Rifles on burst, etc.
In Fallout 2 for instance, I could always max out my AP's with a combination of perks and correct attribute points.

On a different note, my brother had a lot of problems with getting WL2 to work. He has Windows 7 32bit and has 4GB of RAM. Apparently the game crashed as soon as he tried to leave the starting area of the game. He had to hack the .exe of the game to get it to use more than 2GB of RAM or something before the game wanted to work. I have 64bit Windows 7 with 8GB RAM and I had no problems at all.

Wondering if anyone else ran into similar problems?

I didn't have any problems with the game but also running 64bit. He should really considering upgrading. Games have already started to drop support for 32bit mode.

Wl2 is a game of trade-offs and tough decision :P You aren't suppose to be able to get everything!

He had problems with his, ahm, *found* copy of Windows 64bit. So he decided to go out and buy Windows because he was tired of struggling. For some reason he bought the 32bit version, the silly nab. So yeah, I also suggested he upgrade to 64bit.

Yeah, I know you can't get everything, but I should be able to get all 14AP's somehow, even if it means my character has the IQ of a rock and the charm of a dead rat in a sewer. I want to believe! Maybe I'll create a new squad after work and see if I can somehow get more AP's out of them :3

Hehe :D I'll wait for my next playthrough and then try and see if it can work.
