World of Warcraft - General Discussion

To be honest, really wack at times. We have WG on average once or twice a day at good times, but it depends on when you play as to whether you'll get a VoA run or not.

Sometimes, Alliance run around with 18 Tenacity and Ambushing Paladins for 38k is always a lot of fun, even if we don't win VoA.
When its more even (@ peak times) we win about 35% - 40% of the WG's.

Blizzards new policies to prevent faction imbalances in Cataclysm are going to help a lot.

If you are joining solely for a realm where your faction dominates WG, rather look elsewhere... Its jut VOA though ;)

Sounds like the reverse of my current server. At certain times of the day (like 8 on a Sunday morning), the Horde can get up to 17 tenacity, and you see a couple of people with over 150k health running around. Doesn't help that much if they don't have any resilience gear on though.

Hmm, 18 tenacity, Druid, Starfall. Sounds interesting.

I'd love to meet more cool people that play WoW in SA...
Though I'll be honest, I don't have much time for people who think that you can go on
an English server and expect to speak Afrikaans, or those that think its cool to play
Horde, call your char "Stinkfingertjie" and only have TBC installed because you think its funny...
I play on an English EU server where I take the time I play seriously in terms of not
messing around. I have a balanced life and by no means think I'm addicted, but when
in-game I don't make a joke out of my character (nor am I into RP) and I like to compare
myself to world standards unlike some utter noobs I've seen (especially on SA forums)
that think they are cool because they play on a local server where there are only about
15 other players (equally lame) who kill each other with level 70 gear because their server
hasn't even been updated to WOTLK yet...
I play an alliance NE warrior and I am our guild's MT and GL. We are currently half-way
through ICC. Our guild has about 100 members but unfortunately only 3 of them (inc myself)
are from SA - once there was a guy from Boxburg, but I removed him because he expected everybody
else in the guild, who are mostly Swedish btw, to understand him only ever speaking Afrikaans and then
started ranting at them... not cool
But I'm convinced there must be a lot of cool people in SA that play WoW - am I wrong?

I'm sorry if I come across as ..."elitist" (I don't consider myself that at all)

It's just frustrating that I can never meet anybody who I can really
talk to about WoW end-game content in South Africa.

Is it just that nobody really cares about playing at the same level as
those in Europe or the US? Because whether you now like it or not,
if you play on a private server, you don't count - it is nowhere near the same.

Private servers are for communists.

The vast majority of us on here support paid-for games and even if we didn't we wouldn't advertise it on here.

You'll find that we're a VERY relaxed forum and have various levels of gaming intensity. Some of us have the Kingslayer title and 100 mounts rewards, others just enjoy fishing in Loch Modan or playing in tournaments for the Karazhan Chess Club.

If you can't laugh at yourself and enjoy the company of others around you, why bother to PLAY ONLINE GAMES at all?

Oh well, to each his own.

...at least I can take solace in the fact that in the arena I get to hack those that play as Horde cows apart with a VERY big axe. :D

So yesterday I spent about 2 hours watching the trollbiscui videos on cataclysm things, DO NOT WATCH IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS!

And to further reduce spoiler crap I shall be writing in white
So what I've seen so far from those videos is nothing less than amazing, I watched the Goblin and worgen starting areas where he goes from level 1-6 as well as the throne of tides and blackrock caverns dungeon runs,

The mobs in there are absolutely amazing. In the BRC run (the first CATA dungeon), they were all in icc10 gear (now keep in mind this dungeon is essensially for lvl 78+ people) and they actually wiped, yes they WIPED. go look it up in a mmo dictionary somewhere If you dont know the term. Anyways, the boss encounters were absolutely amazing! and like is said multiple times throughout the vid, this has some serious heroic potential. on the last boss they actually had to kite it, and these days kiting is a lost form. I'll let you watch the video of that.

The throne of tides dungeon. well, I think i can easily say it is THE most scenic dungeon I have ever seen, I'll not ruin it by trying to explain it, go watch the video...There's actually an ingame cutscene at one point where they activated a defence mechanism and made a big ass squid fuckoff cause he's tentacles were in the way, that's just fantastic...and yet again they wiped now and then on the boss encounters. Oh and here I come and I haven't even mentioned the lewt. It's icc25 HC equiv, in Ilvl atleast, abit less itemized (stat wise I believe) but still, some of those items I really would like to have...

The Worgen and Goblin starting zones, if Blizzard can do what they did for those two zones to the rest of the game world, I will be one MAJORLY happy wow player...Seriously go watch it, keep in mind its long, the goblin one being longest and pulling at about 40 mins.

Man can't believe I will be playing this again once Cataclysm hits. I love to hate this game, but I always come back!

Just wondering how easy it will be to reactivate my account since I sort of tried to prevent myself from ever playing again by changing passwords, names and such without knowing what they are. If push comes to shove I will just buy the whole pack again and make a new account. It's not like I have anything left on my old one since I deleted like 4 lvl 80's and a whole bunch of misc. level characters in a rage :p

hmm if you do that :P whisper we will give you a recruit and spam some gold for you :P if you play on my server that is ^^ afew Saffers on there

Cool. Once the time gets closer I will mention it again and get server suggestions. I have played Horde in the past, but the Worgen look sweet and I feel like a change of scenery when I restart.

Like I have said before, Lightning's Blade EU for Alliance SAffers. Pull in.

Chaos Reign are a 90% SA guild run by a group of friends who have raided together since TBC.

We're always willing to grow our ranks with SAfricans, be it for raiding (11/12 in ICC10 on farm) / PvP (few of us arena and BG daily) / somewhere to chill (it can be nice to chats wif SA doods).

Gimme a PM or post here for more info.

When I install fresh WotLK what version is it? Is it 2.2.3?

Need to work out which patches to get, but some sources say from a fresh install I would only need 3.0.1 onwards. I have no idea.

What is the current version also sitting at?

I am asking since I need a buddy to download all the patches for me to save me some cash (3G here).
