World of Warcraft - General Discussion

So I was wrong. Why did you fail me, Google? :p

Just a tip, if you're leveling Alliance, make a trip to Duskwood. It has a few quest lines that is more interesting than standard.

And avoid the 'Green Hills of Stranglethorn' quests. Or use the AH to complete it. It's still as annoying as ever.

Hehe, the green hills pages quest sucks ass. Even the dev who created that quest says it's an abortion. Easiest way to do it is to check for pages on the neutral AH in booty bay.

Not to mention taking up way to many spaces in your bags. I bought mine from the Alliance AH in SW, and any extras I found I just put on the AH again. There is always somebody that buys them :p. At least they changed the number of mobs to kill in the Outland version of the mastery quests from 30 to 12 each. Having to kill 180 animals on my druid was a pain.

There is a couple of annoying quests to avoid, which becomes a time-consuming grind. The centaur quests in Desolace is a good example of it. There was a guy in my guild that actually did both factions.

Up to lvl 27 now after 2 weeks.

Been playing real chill... sitting on hillsides watching sunsets, sitting in bars drinking... accepting gold from total strangers.
Made a paladin for my first char because I did`t know whether I want to tank, heal or damage... but I guess it will have to be damage because I`ve put all my points into retribution.
community seems nice as well... There are a few people that take everything very seriously, but the majority is friendly.

Final thoughts: nice game, but the urge to do some more quests is just not there.... the bug bit me initially, but its gone now. Maybe i`m too late for the party, maybe i`ll feel like playing again tomorrow, maybe a pally is just a dullard.

Pallies are bleh up until you get to level 50 and you get crusader strike ^^ then everything speeds up, although I leveled my first pally as prot, nothing beats tanking 4 mobs 3-4 levels higher than you and emerging with about 80% hp :D

The game tends to get boring at times. Around 30 seems to be the worst of them. At 40 you will be able to wear plate armor. 50 is crusader strike (as mag said) and at 60 you get your 51 point talent, which is usually good.

Perhaps you should do some dungeons to do something different. Or you can try to level fishing :p. You'll get so bored that grind quests will look interesting.

This.

My first toon ever was a paladin. Got bored to death by level 40. Almost quit the game.
Then I rerolled Horde, rolled a tauren hunter, got into a good guild, and it was all 'downhill' from there. 4-5 years later and I'm still sold.

So keep in mind every character class plays very differently. Paladins are much more... 'sedate'. The first 40 levels are basically just autoattacking things to death. Try something else for variety.

Only 48? No way dude. Then there must be a lot more wrong with me than previously anticipated. The quickest I've seen someone level (someone with 5 lvl80s already and knows the layout & quests) it took him 3 weeks of playing about 5-8hrs a day. So roughly 120-140hrs.

No way dude. My /played time was 3 days 12 hours by level 80. I did use RaF though but wasted time grinding, AFK, some other things.

So that's 84 hrs including RAF. I wasn't too far off with 120hrs considering the boost you get from RAF. :p

I have being playing wow on a private server with a few mates to try it out and I am really enjoying it. Don't flame me :p

How much are the costs playing Wow on a legit server? and what are these costs for?

Just randomly looking @ Take2 for prices, you should shop around more though.

Vanilla + TBC box set : http://www.take2.co.za/games-world-of-warcraft-battlechest-pc-3105833.html = R 182
WotLK Expansion : http://www.take2.co.za/games-world-of-warcraft-wrath-of-the-lich-king-expansion-pack-pc-2670934.html = R 272

60 day gamecard : http://www.take2.co.za/games-world-...ame-card-european-server-version-5195083.html R 270 every 2 months.

Hmmm.. Glad I have bought everything over the years, it does seem really expensive for a new person to acquire and get into... However, ANYTHING is better than playing on those FAKE servers that ... grumble grumble...

You can get a 60-day game card for about R270 from Take2. The prices will differ from different places, but should be around the same amount. If you choose subscription, its about R120 for a 1 month subscription, R336 for a 3 month and R612 for 6 months. These are paid in euros though, so you should factor in exchange rates for it.

If you haven't bought the game itself, you'll need to get it as well to be able to create an account. On Take2 that is R182 for the battlechest (Vanilla+BC) and R272 for WotLK. You can get it also online as well, but it's more expensive, coming around R600 at the Blizzard store.

Your version of the game should be up to date or very close, so you do save on patch downloads.

Edit: And your money goes to maintaining/upgrading servers as well developing new content. You'll see the difference when playing on working servers and having other people to play with. A wintergrasp battle with at least 100 people on each side battling it out is quite an experience.

I levelled my Tankadin, and 3rd 80, in 4days 4hrs and an odd couple of minutes, without RAF. I didn't know it was available in South Africa yet  :(

Thanks for the info guys! Hmmmm When is the new expansion releasing? if they make Vanila + BC + WOTLK boxset it may be cheaper that way. I think for now I will continue playing on private server until I reach 80.

Is there highrate legit realms?

We have no news as of yet regarding the expac, but if I had to venture a guess, you will have to wait for quite a while for the box set.

Playing on a private server really gimps your game experience. Trust me. There is a reason that we pay subs. Relatively glitch-free game experience, content patches, quick bug-fixes, good server-uptime and a decent turn-around time if the server fails ect. ect...

Kyubi, u can create a trial account and play for free for 10 days. Thereafter u can keep your characters once u decide to buy the game which will likely come with 30 days free (well, at least it did when i bought the first one for about R99).

Note, it will be a good idea to copy the game files from someone who is up to date with all patches before creating your trial account. I don't know how much space is required these days but am guessing 12gb plus.
