Games you can play this week - sci-fi and spandex

As we roll into the last week of October, there are some big-name releases arriving to taunt gamers’ wallets.

Whether it be Halo 5: Guardians or WWE 2K16, there’s something to please everyone; so here are our picks for the biggest games launching this week:

Halo 5: Guardians – October 27

(Xbox One)

Coming this week is the next major episode in what is arguably the most beloved first-person shooter series of all time.

The Halo franchise is nearly synonymous with Xbox, so Halo 5: Guardians is a huge deal for Microsoft.

We’ve seen quite a bit of multiplayer footage, but not much is known of the campaign and its cryptic story.

What we do know is that the mercenary Spartan Locke will feature heavily alongside Master Chief, but they won’t exactly be buddies, as Locke is hunting down the iconic hero this time round.

There will, however, be an onslaught of awesome spartan as well as alien weaponry, some crazy new enemies and truly spectacular fire-fights coming our way in Halo 5.

WWE 2K16 – October 30

(PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

If you’ve been missing spandex-clad suplexes, you’ll be glad to know that WWE 2K16 is releasing this week.

There will be more than 120 WWE playable characters that will not include retro-themed characters, so that alone should be something to look forward to.

In addition to the massive roster, there is a revamped career mode and extensive improvement has been done to bolster the gameplay, including an expanded repertoire of stock reversals – moves that could come in handy once a player finds himself in an awkward situation.

In summary, it looks like WWE 2K16 is being redesigned to be more skill-based rather than wrecking those buttons from constant mashing.
