Nvidia 3D Vision

We're all noobs in this man! lol. Nvidia are the BIGGEST bunch of noobs though. NO help from them. So if you get stuck you can just ask me and I'll try to help. I have a feeling you're going to REALLY like 3D Vision. Don't expect the moon and stars and enjoy it for what it is. It's very "trial and error" at the moment, but it's flippen fun. I don't regret spending money on this at all!
 
Yes well i tried Eyefinity and was good fun..no it good but it only gives you more viewing area , where this give you 3D enhancement and then later you can if get more screens.

Okay so tonight I'll be tweaking the settings a bit and play with the Depth and Convergence settings to see what exactly they do. I'll also be playing some Starcraft 2 Beta and see what that's like. Will keep you all posted.

As for performance so far, because I'm playing older games I don't notice anything strange. I did notice slowdown in Bad Company 2, I'd say you can bargain on losing up to 40% performance on games when running in S-3D mode. So if you're planning on running the LATEST games in S-3D, you better have the PC that goes along with it.

I am worried if I buy something that espensive in the future,and I get sick and barf it would be a wast of money?

Nope. No chunks blown yet. I am EXTREMELY prone to motion sickness. If it caused me any discomfort it would have given it to me already. To be honest, I feel NO more strain on my eyes than what I did when I watched Avatar in 3D.

Remember, you can set the intensity of the effect as well. So even if you do feel a bit uncomfortable, just turn it down a bit.

Like any Stereoscopic 3D technology there will be some people who find it a bit uncomfortable. But it doesn't do any damage. It's like roller coasters. I cannot go on one without being sick the whole day while 10 year old children laugh at me because they feel NOTHING.

If you want to know if you'll have an issue with these glasses, go watch a 3D Movie. If you didn't feel strange with them you can be 99% sure that you'll have no problem with the Nvidia glasses.
 
I just downloaded a few 3D photo samples. This changes the way I look at what photography can do. Honestly, I've never seen photos that immediately transport you to that location like what 3D photos do. Amazing.
 
Wow Neo, I am jealous. It rocks that someone from SA finally have such a setup though. I've played a bit with the red and blue glasses and I can just imagine how awesome it must be with the proper setup. :D

Well if you look at the cost in total was R7000 for a brand new Acer 23.6" LCD and the glasses. Everything imported. If you then look at what a GTX480 costs you can almost compare the two.

I've done this and I'm posting all of my findings here to let local people know it CAN be done and it IS worth it. Now the choice is up to anyone that is really interested in this to go for it or not. It is expensive, but PC gaming has never really been cheap either.
 
Just a quick note that might have been mentioned earlier. If you have those blue/red glasses from old school 3d, you can enable that on any monitor and use your glasses. It'll give you a good idea what neo is seeing. Only difference is that you wont get any real colour [because you can only see in blue and red...]

Trompie and the boys brought in a whole boatload of the 3D stuff, heaven knows that he's been trying to get me to buy them for a while now :P
 
Great news about the 3D monitors that are now available locally! And that's a pretty good price as well! wow! R1000 cheaper than what I got it for. Now what's the news on the Nvidia 3D Vision kits???

had to share this. I'm on my honeymoon at the moment and we were walking around the Gateway shopping centre the other day and we saw the launch of the new LG LED LCD 3DTV at DionWired. It's beautiful with its 55" borderless, super-thin design....and at R58,000 it wasn't cheap either.

I finally got to see some 3D TV in action and I really LOL'ed when they used the same 3D clip that Nvidia provides on their website for 3D video demonstration. Both my wife and I agreed, the Nvidia glasses perform better and there was noticeably "flicker" from the glasses used on the LG television.

It looks like the Nvidia 3D Vision implementation is REALLY top notch. So far it's definitely better than LG's implementation.

At almost R60,000 for a 55" screen though, I really don't think 3D TV is going to take off quickly at all. I paid a bit more for my television, but at least it's 63" inches....which actually does make a difference. Then again, that borderless LED design is pant-wettingly pretty. Samsung's designer can go shoot himself in my opinion.
