Okay so I got everything up and running last night. I fired up a game of DotA and my mind....was....blown. It was like playing a brand new game. I cannot begin to tell you what it's like playing a game in stereoscopic 3D. It's insane, it's epic, it's flippen brilliant.
Unfortunately, that's where my praise stops.
You see, after about 3 hours of gaming in 3D without a single hitch, my PC crashed. This was nothing new and I just restarted it. Since then I have NOT been able to get my Stereoscopic 3D working like it use to. I've been online with this issue and found numerous people complaining about the same thing. Now, all of my games, when trying to run in 3D mode, causes my glasses to flicker so horribly and in an un-rythmic way that I'm surprised I didn't get epilepsy.
I've re-installed drivers, done system rollbacks, switched things off, turned things on...I even did the hokey pokey, NOTHING seems to be able to get my 3D back to what it was like when I used it for the first 3 brilliant hours.
Guys, stereoscopic 3D gaming is THE way of the future. I'm sure of it. Anyone who has experienced it will testify that it's the biggest leap forward in gaming since the joystick controller. It's THAT good. But it seems that support for this product and PROPER DRIVERS are basically non-existent. Many people are complaining about this issue and Nvidia are throwing us all the finger - once again.
Is Stereoscopic 3D gaming all they make it out to be? YES - no doubt about it.
Can I recommend this to my fellow gamers? NO - I wish this was a different answer, but it's just too expensive to get running and it's way too "iffy".
My suggestion is to way until Nvidia release PROPER support for this product. Or even better, wait until ATi releases something similar that actually works.
